RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 9/30/2006, 2600 blk N. Monroe St. Between 1600 and 1630 hrs on 09/30/06, someone entered an unsecured garage and took several bicycles.
PEEPING TOM, 9/29/2006, 2300 blk N. 9th St. At approximately 2110 hrs on 09/29/06, an officer observed a man repeatedly peeping into the bedroom window of an apartment. The officer also observed the man exposing himself. Samuel Teo Chilin, 26, of Arlington, was arrested and charged with Peeping.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 9/29/2006, 2900 blk S. Glebe Rd. Between 0830 hrs and 1745 hrs on 09/29/06, someone entered an apartment by unknown means and took a laptop computer.
ATTEMPTED RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 9/28/2006, 2000 Block of N. 20th Road At approximately 9:58 a.m. on 09/28/06, a resident reported that he was the victim of an attempted burglary. A neighbor heard glass break and ran outside. He discovered that a window in a side door had been broken. No suspect was found and the homeowner did not notice anything missing.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 9/27/2006, 1900 blk N. Lincoln St. At approximately 1455 hrs on 09/27/06, a man was seen carrying tools away from an unsecured detached garage. The suspect is described as a white Hispanic male in his 20’s, 5’4”, 170 lbs, wearing a long, tan t-shirt and dark pants.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 9/26/2006, 3300 blk N. 2nd Rd. Between 1715 hrs on 09/25/06 and 0800 hrs on 09/26/06, someone entered a home under construction and took a leaf blower, a rotor tiller, and a generator.
ATTEMPTED RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 9/26/2006, 1900 blk N. Stafford St. Between 1830 hrs on 09/25/06 and 0820 hrs on 09/26/06, someone attempted to pry open a basement door. The lock was damaged but it appears that entry was not made.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 9/26/2006, 3300 blk N. 13th St. Between 0745 hrs and 1830 hrs on 09/26/06, someone entered a home by breaking a window on the front side of the home and took cash and jewelry.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 9/26/2006, 4800 blk Columbia Pike. At approximately 1602 hrs on 09/26/06, an officer observed a man defecating in plain view of the public. Luis Osorio Hernandez, 49, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with Indecent Exposure.
ATTEMPTED RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 9/26/2006, 1000 blk N. Monroe St. At approximately 0805 hrs on 09/25/06, a woman returned home to find a man crouched in the bushes near her screened porch. The man was holding an apparent burglary tool and backed away hiding his face when he was seen. He fled on foot. The suspect is described as a black male in his early to mid 30s, 6’4”, 180 lbs wearing blue jeans and a plaid shirt.
ATTEMPTED RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 9/25/2006, 100 blk S. Glebe Rd. Between 0700 hrs and 2218 hours on 09/25/06, someone smashed a basement window of a home in an apparent attempt to gain entry. The attempt was unsuccessful and nothing was taken from the home.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 9/25/2006, 3700 blk S. 2nd St. Between 0730 hrs on 1900 hrs on 09/25/06, someone entered a home by damaging a porch door then breaking a glass pane on the door from the porch to the house. Items were disturbed but it is unknown at this time if anything was taken.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 9/25/2006, 1200 blk N. Stafford St. At approximately 2240 hrs on 09/25/06, two women saw a naked man kneeling on the walkway in front of a home. The women ran from the area and the suspect was gone when police arrived. The suspect is described as a white male, 45 to 50 years old, 6’2”, 200 lbs with blond hair.
ROBBERY BY FORCE, 9/25/2006, 6700 blk Lee Highway At approximately 2100 hrs on 09/25/06, a man walking down the street was approached by two unknown men. One of the suspects robbed the victim of cash and a key chain while the second suspect threatened to hurt him if he resisted. Both suspects fled on foot. Suspect #1 is described as a white male, 50 to 60 years old, 5’10”, 200 lbs, with blond hair in a ponytail, last seen wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Suspect #2 is described as a white male, 5’10”, 170 lbs.
PEEPING TOM, 9/23/2006, 2000 blk Columbia Pike At approximately 0528 hrs on 09/23/06, a woman spotted a man sitting in a tree and peeping into her apartment window. Arrested was Hugo Contrareras Espinal, 26, of New Carrollton, Maryland. He was charged with Peeping and held on $3,000 bond.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY, 9/23/2006, 3300 blk N. 2nd Rd. Between 1830 hrs on 09/22/06 and 1044 hrs on 09/23/06, someone entered an unsecured house under construction and vandalized numerous items in the home.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 9/23/2006, 2700 blk S. Lang St. At approximately 0149 hrs on 09/23/06, officers responded to a school for a burglar alarm. They observed four juveniles inside of the school stealing numerous items. Three of the juveniles were apprehended by police as they tried to leave. The fourth was able to evade capture. The three subjects arrested were male and aged 15, 16, and 17. They were released to their parents and petitions are pending.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 9/23/2006, 900 blk S. 22nd St. Between 1730 hrs and 1815 hrs on 09/23/06, someone entered an unsecured detached garage and took a power drill.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 9/23/2006, 2700 blk S. Veitch St. Between 0145 hrs and 0807 hrs on 09/23/06, someone entered an apartment window by cutting a screen and took a laptop computer.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 9/22/2006, 4000 blk N. Round Hill Rd. Between 1200 hrs on 09/21/06 and 0900 hrs on 09/22/06, someone entered a home by forcing a rear door and took jewelry.
PEEPING TOM, 9/21/2006, 2300 blk N. 10th St. At approximately 2225 hrs on 09/21/06, an officer observed a man peeping into several ground floor apartment windows. Selvin Perez-Lopez, 25, of Arlington was arrested and released on a summons for Peeping.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY / RAPE, 9/21/2006, 800 blk S. 20th St. At approximately 2000 hrs on 09/21/06, a man broke into the home of a woman with whom he had a prior relationship. The man sexually assaulted the woman and would not let her leave the home. At approximately 1835 hrs on 09/22/06, the victim was able to escape. The suspect was taken into custody after a 3-hour standoff at the home. Arrested was Melvyn Eugene Merchant II, 42, of Vienna. He was charged with Burglary and Rape and held without bond. Additional charges may follow.
ROBBERY BY FORCE, 9/20/2006, 5800 blk N. Washington Boulevard At approximately 1430 hrs on 09/20/06, a 14-year-old boy approached a group of younger children and struck a 12-year-old boy several times with a stick. The 14-year-old suspect then demanded money from the group. He forcibly took a backpack from an 11-year-old boy and removed cash. The suspect is known to the victims and petitions are pending.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 9/21/2006, 1600 blk N. Colonial Terrace. Between 0810 hrs and 1800 hrs on 09/21/06, someone entered a home, possibly by forcing a rear patio door, and took cameras, watches, and an Ipod.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 9/21/2006, 4100 blk N. Old Glebe Rd. Between 0900 hrs on 09/18/06 and 2223 hrs on 09/21/06, someone entered a home by unknown means and took jewelry.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 9/21/2006, 1800 blk N. Queen’s Lane. Between 2115 hrs and 2130 hrs on 09/21/06, someone entered an apartment through a bedroom window by removing the screen and took a wallet and watch.
SEXUAL BATTERY, 9/21/2006, bike trail in area of Lee Highway and N. Quinn St. At approximately 1915 hrs on 09/21/06, a woman was walking on the bike trail when she was groped from behind by a young man. The victim turned to confront the man who left when she took out her cell phone. The suspect is described as a black male, 15 to 17 years old, 5’11” tall, 250 lbs, with a shaved head. He was wearing blue jeans, a black t-shirt, and glasses.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 9/21/2006, 900 blk S. Wakefield St. At approximately 2253 hrs on 09/21/06, an officer was flagged down by a resident reporting an injured friend. The officer went into a home and found a male victim suffering from severe lacerations to the head and upper body. The victim was transported to a local hospital. The investigation is ongoing.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 9/20/2006, 900 blk N. Wayne St. At approximately 2335 hrs on 09/20/06 a woman awoke to find a stranger in her apartment. The man fled after being confronted by the woman. The suspect is described as a very light-skinned white Hispanic male, approximately 25 years old, 5’10” tall, 160 lbs, with short black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black sweat shirt (fleece) and dark baggy jeans.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 9/19/2006, 1000 blk N. Glebe Rd. At approximately 2304 hrs on 09/19/06, someone broke into a suite in an office building and entered a computer room by prying the door. Various computer components were stolen. A second suite was broken into but nothing was reported stolen. Three other suites in the same building were burglarized two nights earlier.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 9/18/2006, 2700 blk S. Quincy St. Between 1530 hrs on 09/15/06 and 0446 hrs on 09/18/06, someone entered a construction site and took several hundred gallons of diesel fuel from a fuel tank.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 9/18/2006, 1400 blk S. Fern St. Between 1600 hrs on 09/16/06 and 0600 hrs on 09/18/06, someone entered a building under construction and broke into storage areas by dismantling padlocks. Spools of copper wire and various tools were taken.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARIES (SERIES), 9/18/2006, 1000 blk N. Glebe Rd. Between 1600 hrs on 09/17/06 and 0700 hrs on 09/18/06, someone broke into three suites in the same office building and took a laptop computer, tape drives, and various computer components.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 9/18/2006, 100 blk S. Glebe Rd. Between 0730 hrs and 1600 hrs on 09/18/06, someone entered a home by breaking a basement window and took cash.
ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY, 9/18/2006, 4100 blk S. Four Mile Run Dr. At approximately 1602 hrs on 09/18/06, a man approached a cab driver who had just finished getting gas. The man pointed a gun at the cab driver and tried to rob him but the cab driver drove away. The suspect is described as a dark-complected black male, 6’ to 6’2” tall with a large build and long dreadlocks or braids. He was last seen wearing a yellow t-shirt with a horizontal line on the front, blue jeans, a blue skull cap, and tan work boots.
ATTEMPTED MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 9/18/2006, 2100 blk S. Monroe St. At midnight or soon thereafter on 09/18/06, a woman who had earlier argued with several other women returned to fight them. She first sprayed bleach at them from a spray bottle and during the ensuing fight she wielded at various times a baseball bat, a knife, and a box cutter. One victim received a minor laceration from the box cutter. The suspect, known as “Chanelle”, is described as a dark-complected black female, approximately 20 years old, 5’4” tall, 130 lbs, with long black hair.
FIREARMS OFFENSE, 9/18/2006, 300 blk N. Oxford St. At approximately 2100 hrs on 09/18/06, a man showed up at his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and began to argue with her. During the argument he pulled out a handgun and fired one shot into the ceiling. The ex-girlfriend suffered minor powder burns to the face and fled to a nearby residence. The suspect left the scene in a vehicle. A warrant was obtained charging the suspect with Discharging a Firearm Into a Dwelling. He was stopped and arrested by Maryland State Police from the Forestville barracks. Clifton Hayley Harper, 28, of Woodford, VA is being held in the Upper Marlboro Department of Corrections on $100,000 bond.
ASSAULT BY MOB, 9/17/2006, 4300 blk N. 4th St. At approximately 0730 hrs on 09/17/06, a man walking out of an apartment complex laundry room was assaulted by two men. The victim fled into an apartment building and called the police. When he came back out to wait for the police the victim found one of his two attackers waiting for him with a large butcher knife. An officer arrived on scene and took both suspects into custody. Arrested were 21-year-old Carlos Antonio Ramirez (AKA Carlos Rudolpho Florez-Gomez) and a 17-year-old male juvenile. Mr. Ramirez was charged with Assault By Mob, Possession Of A Concealed Weapon, Contributing To The Delinquency Of A Minor and Failure To Identify and held without bond. The juvenile was released to a parent and petitions are pending.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 9/17/2006, 2100 blk S. Randolph St. At approximately 0255 hrs on 09/17/06, three uninvited men “crashed” a party at a private residence. They apparently tried to take alcohol from the party and a brawl ensued. Two men received lacerations from an unknown weapon and one man was hit in the face with a bottle. The three injured men refused medical treatment and all parties involved were uncooperative with the police.
SEXUAL BATTERY, 9/16/2006, 900 blk N. Stuart St. At approximately 2248 hrs on 09/16/06, a woman in a park was approached by a man who groped her. The suspect then fled on foot. He is described as a white Hispanic male in his 20’s, 5’5” tall, thin with black hair, last seen wearing a blue and white striped shirt and dark-colored pants.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 9/15/2006, 2000 blk N. Brandywine St. Between 0915 hrs and 1815 hrs on 09/15/06, someone entered a basement bedroom by removing a screen and climbing in the window. Jewelry was taken from various locations in the home.
ATTEMPTED RAPE, 9/15/2006, 5200 blk Columbia Pike. At approximately 2351 hrs on 09/15/06 a woman was walking home and was approached by a man. The stranger began kissing and groping the woman against her will. He tried several times to drag the woman away from the street into dark areas but she was able to resist. The victim was able to escape from the suspect and flagged down a passerby who called the police. The suspect fled on foot but was apprehended nearby by police. Esvin Dionel Soto, 21, was charged with Attempted Rape and held without bond.
ASSAULT & BATTERY, 9/15/2006, 2300 Block of S. Eads St. Between 0310 and 0315 hrs on 09/15/06 police responded to a restaurant for a report of five people fighting outside. A victim was located at the scene with facial injuries. A witness said five men had beat up the victim and then fled. After conducting interviews officers determined the fight may have been related to an earlier dispute.
DOMESTIC ASSAULT & BATTERY, 9/14/2006, 700 Block of S. Arlington Mill Drive. At approximately 2000 hrs on 09/14/06, a woman reported that her son had lost control after she took away his cell phone and computer. The son broke a desk, pulled drawers out of a dresser and forcefully grabbed his mother’s arm causing it to bruise. 18 year old Marco Antonio Pachacopa Fernadez was located a short time later and charged with domestic assault and battery.
ASSAULT & BATTERY ON A POLICE OFFICER, 9/14/2006, 4200 Block of N. Wilson Blvd. At approximately 2002 hrs on 09/14/06 officers responded for a report of a homeless man who was apparently drunk in public. While investigating the complaint an officer noticed a bulge in the man’s jacket, which the officer believed might be a weapon. When the officer attempted to pat the man down he resisted and attempted to bite the officer’s hand. The man was arrested and charged with assault and battery on a police officer, and one count of curse and abuse.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 9/14/2006, 2400 blk S. 26th Rd. At approximately 0401 hrs on 09/14/06, officers responded to a store for a burglar alarm. They discovered that someone had shattered the front window and taken several bottles of wine.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 9/13/2006, 2800 blk S. Taylor St. Between 09/11/06 and 0742 hrs on 09/13/06, someone entered a construction site and took a generator which had been secured with a chain and lock.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 9/12/2006, 1000 blk S. Frederick St. Between 0700 hrs and 1500 hrs on 09/12/06, someone entered a ground-floor apartment by removing a screen and climbing in a window. Food and clothing were taken.
PEEPING TOM, 9/12/2006, 1200 blk N. Quinn St. At approximately 2310 hrs on 09/12/06, a woman saw a man looking in her bedroom window. She left the room and returned a few minutes later to find the man had left. The suspect is described as a white Hispanic male, 5’8” tall, 150 lbs, wearing a dark shirt.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 9/12/2006, 2200 blk S. Shirlington Rd. Between 1500 hrs on 09/08/06 and 0645 hrs on 09/11/06, someone broke into a storage area on a construction site and took construction tools and materials.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 9/11/2006, 1400 blk S. Fern St. Between 1400 hrs on 09/09/06 and 1213 hrs on 09/11/06, someone entered a construction site and took copper wire.
ROBBERY BY FORCE, 9/11/2006, 5500 blk Columbia Pike. At approximately 1805 hrs on 09/11/06, a woman was walking on the street when a man approached her. She began to walk away from him but he ran up from behind her and grabbed her purse away. The man fled on foot. The suspect is described as a black male in his late 20’s, 6’ tall, 200 to 220 lbs, with shoulder-length wavy hair. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored zippered sweatshirt with white stripes on the sleeves and dark, baggy jeans.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 9/11/2006, 4400 blk Wilson Boulevard. Between 0730 hrs on 09/05/06 and 0530 hrs on 09/11/06, someone entered a home under construction and broke into two locked closets. Copper wire and copper poles were taken.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 9/10/2006, 2100 blk S. Buchanan St. Between 2300 hrs on 08/17/06 and 1600 hrs on 09/10/06, someone entered a home and took two camcorders, a cell phone and jewelry. Entry was most likely through an unsecured rear door.
ATTEMPTED RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 9/10/2006, 1800 blk N. Glebe Rd. At approximately 1938 hrs on 09/10/06, three men were seen entering the back yard of a home. One of the men tried to open a window to gain entry to the home. When the man realized he was being observed, he and the other two men fled on foot. The suspects are described as two white males and one black male, all around 19 years old, 5’9” tall, and 180 lbs.
ROBBERY, 9/10/2006, 4500 blk Columbia Pike. At approximately 0302 hrs on 09/10/06, a man walking on the street was robbed of cash and a cell phone by two men. The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle.
PEEPING TOM, 9/9/2006, 1100 blk N. Randolph St. At approximately 0300 hrs on 09/09/06, a woman observed a man looking in one of the windows of her home. When a visitor arrived at the home, the man left on foot. The suspect is described as a white male in his 50’s with gray hair, last seen wearing a baseball cap, jeans, and a jacket.
LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 9/9/2006, 4200 blk S. 16th St. Between 2130 hrs on 09/08/06 and 0700 hrs on 09/09/06, someone broke into two vehicles and took stereo faceplates. A third vehicle was damaged in an apparent attempt to gain entry.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (SERIES), 9/9/2006, 1600-1800 blks S. Stafford St. Between midnight and 0200 hrs on 09/09/06, someone slashed 19 tires on 9 vehicles.
PEEPING TOM, 9/9/2006, 1600 blk N. Quinn St. At approximately 0217 hrs on 09/09/06, a resident of an apartment observed a man hiding behind a tree and apparently looking into the apartment. When the resident yelled at the man, he fled. The suspect is described as a white Hispanic male with short black hair, tall, with a stocky build. He was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt and unknown color pants.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 9/9/2006, 1700 blk N. Barton St. At approximately 0335 hrs on 09/09/06, a woman awoke to find a man she does not know in her bedroom. The stranger indicated he wanted to have sex but fled when the woman screamed. The man apparently entered the home through an unsecured door. The suspect is described as a white, possibly middle-eastern, male, 30 years old, 6’ tall, 170 lbs (slim), with dark eyes and curly black hair. He was last seen wearing a short-sleeve white button-down shirt and black pants.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 9/8/2006, 500 blk N. Randolph St. At approximately 1225 hrs on 09/08/06, a woman was walking on the street when a man driving a light blue SUV stopped in front of her and got her attention. The woman then noticed that the man was naked except for sunglasses. The suspect drove away but returned and pulled up near the victim a second time as she continued walking. The suspect is described as an overweight white male, late 40’s to early 50’s, with a bald head.
ATTEMPTED COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 9/8/2006, 2800 blk S. Stafford St. Between 1630 hrs on 09/07/06 and 0600 hrs on 09/08/06, someone attempted to pry open the door to a construction trailer.
ATTEMPTED RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 9/7/2006, 3800 blk N. Oakland St. Between 0700 hrs and 1500 hrs on 09/07/06, someone damaged the lock on the front door of a home in an apparent attempt to pry open the door.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (SERIES), 9/7/2006, 3200-3300 blk N. Ohio St. and 6000 blk N. 27th St. Between 1730 hrs on 09/06/06 and 0800 hrs on 09/07/07, someone broke out windows on three vehicles in the same area.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY / ROBBERY, 9/7/2006, 5100 blk S. 10th Place. At approximately 0530 hrs on 09/07/06, a man known to the victim entered her home through a window. He demanded money from the victim and took her purse from her. After taking what he wanted from the purse, the man left. Warrants are on file for Michael Monroe Carolina Jr., 26, of Fort Washington, Maryland.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 9/6/2006, 1200 blk N. Courthouse Rd. At approximately 2100 hrs on 09/06/06, two men were seen at a construction site loading up a vehicle with copper fittings. It was later discovered they had stolen the copper along with an electric drill.
FIREARMS VIOLATIONS, 9/6/2006, 2000 blk N. Kensington St. At approximately 2157 hrs on 09/06/06, it was reported that a man was armed with several firearms and threatening to have a “shootout” with police at his home. When officers arrived, they surrounded the home and evacuated the area. The man surrendered peacefully after a 4-hour standoff. Richard Dean Vetter, 51, was arrested and charged with Brandishing A Firearm, Making Threats By Telephone, and Discharging A Firearm In An Occupied Dwelling. He was held without bond.
ROBBERY BY FORCE, 9/6/2006, 4200 blk S. Four Mile Run Dr. At approximately 0400 hrs on 09/06/06, a woman walking in the area of Barcroft Park was attacked from behind. A man knocked the woman to the ground and took cash before fleeing on foot. The suspect is described as a white Hispanic male in his late 20’s to early 30’s, 5’10” to 6’ tall, 210 lbs, muscular, with short, black, curly hair, last seen wearing a light-colored short-sleeved shirt with horizontal stripes.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 9/5/2006, 4600 blk N. 14th St. Between 1200 hrs on 09/04/06 and 0750 hrs on 09/05/06, someone entered the victim’s garage and took two bicycles.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 9/5/2006, 5400 blk N. Fairfax Dr. At approximately 1900 hrs on 09/05/06, a man was seen walking down the street exposing himself. The witness saw the man enter a residence and directed police to that location. Officers located and arrested Froilan Estrada-Grijalva, 36, of Arlington. He was charged with Indecent Exposure and held on $3,500 bond.
ARMED ROBBERY, 9/5/2006, 4200 blk N. Pershing Dr. At approximately 1530 hrs on 09/05/06, a man entered a restaurant, struck an employee in the head with a handgun, and demanded money. The man received cash and fled on foot. The suspect is described as a black male, 6’ tall, with short hair and a neatly-trimmed beard, last seen wearing a long white shirt, blue jeans, a black jacket, tan work boots, and a blue baseball cap with a “B”.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 9/4/2006, 1000 blk N. Highland St. At approximately 1613 hrs on 09/04/06, police received a report of a suspicious person who had driven onto a deserted construction site. The site was dormant due to the Labor Day holiday. Officers located and arrested a man who had broken into a storage area and was in the process of stealing copper pipe and tools. Gregory Lamont Rawls, 27, of Capitol Heights, Maryland, was charged with Burglary and Grand Larceny and was released after posting a $5,000 bond.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 9/4/2006, 4000 blk N. 27th St. Between 1200 hrs on 09/03/06 and 1400 hrs on 09/04/06, someone entered a home, possibly through an unsecured rear door or an unsecured garage, and took a large amount of jewelry.
GRAND LARCENY AUTO / MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 9/3/2006, 200 blk S. 6th St. At approximately 0400 hrs on 09/03/06 a tow truck driver saw a man stealing a car from his company’s lot. The driver blocked the man’s escape path with his tow truck and the man intentionally rammed the tow truck. After both men got out of their vehicles, the suspect punched and bit the tow truck driver before fleeing on foot. The suspect is described as a black male, 28 years old, 5’11” tall, 160 lbs, wearing a long-sleeve black t-shirt.
ROBBERY BY FORCE, 9/3/2006, 4900 blk Columbia Pike. At approximately 2334 hrs on 09/03/06, a man was walking down the street when he noticed two men following him. The men caught up to the victim and demanded his money. When he did not immediately comply, the men assaulted the victim, took his wallet, and fled on foot. Suspect #1 is described as a white Hispanic male, 28 to 30 years old, with black hair and a mustache, wearing a white tank top and blue jeans. Suspect #2 is described as a white Hispanic male, 28 to 30 years old, with black hair and a mustache, wearing a black shirt and brown jeans.
ARSON, 9/2/2006, 5400 blk Lee Highway. At approximately 0232 hrs on 09/02/06, two men were seen setting newspapers and phone books on fire in a bus shelter. The Fire Marshall was notified and is investigating.
ROBBERY BY FORCE, 9/2/2006, 1300 blk S. Monroe St. At approximately 1615 hrs on 09/02/06, a woman was walking down the street when two Hispanic men ran up from behind her. One man grabbed her purse and they both fled on foot. Witnesses chased the men but the suspects jumped into a dark van and got away. Suspect #1 (who had the purse) is described as 5’8” tall, wearing a red and white baseball cap and a red hooded sweatshirt or possibly a red jogging suit. There is no further description for suspect #2.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 9/1/2006, 6900 blk N. Williamsburg Boulevard. Between 1100 hrs and 2330 hrs on 09/01/06, someone entered a home by breaking a pane of glass in a rear door and took a laptop computer and cash.
PEEPING TOM, 9/1/2006, 900 blk N. Wayne St. At approximately 2325 hrs on 09/01/06, a woman spotted a man looking in a bedroom window in her apartment. The man fled when he was seen. The suspect is described as a light-skinned male with “bushy” hair, wearing a red shirt.
ARMED ROBBERY, 9/1/2006, 1100 blk S. Joyce St. At approximately 1149 hrs on 09/01/06, a man and a woman entered a store. The man started to leave with a jacket shoved partially down into his pants. When confronted at the door by an employee, the man produced a bladed weapon and threatened the employee. The man and woman left together in a black Lincoln Towncar with tinted windows and blue and white temporary tags. The man is described as a black male in his late 20’s to early 30’s, 5’7” tall, 185 lbs, wearing a black baseball cap with a silver logo on the side, a black jacket, black pants, and black boots. The woman is described as a black female in her early 20’s, 5’7”, 130 lbs, with braided hair, wearing a dark jacket and blue jeans.
LARCENY/TRESPASSING, 9/1/2006, 600 blk N. Glebe Rd. At approximately 0229 hrs on 09/01/06, officers responded to a grocery store for trespassers. The manager of the store had discovered five men hiding in the dairy cooler. They were enjoying stolen beer and food and vandalizing the cooler area. After being spotted, the five men fled in a vehicle. Responding officers located the vehicle and detained the men. Four of the subjects were arrested and charged with Trespassing, Petit Larceny and Drunk In Public: Timothy Jon Knapp, 27, of Arlington; Joshua James Papreck, 24, of Alexandria; Hunter H. Cashdollar, 36, of Arlington; and Darrien G. Demps, 35, of Gulf Breeze, Florida. The 5th suspect, George A. Kennedy, 35, of Arlington, was charged with Trespassing, Petit Larceny, and Driving While Intoxicated.
ABDUCTION, 8/31/2006, 5500 blk Columbia Pike. From 08/28/06 to 08/31/06, a woman was held in a residence against her will by her estranged husband who threatened her with a sword. A 33-year-old Arlington man was arrested and charged with Abduction. He was held without bond.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 8/31/2006, 1700 blk S. Arlington Ridge Rd. Sometime on 08/31/06, someone entered a home by forcing a side door and took a laptop computer.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 8/31/2006, 2200 blk N. Clarendon Boulevard. Between 1800 hrs on 08/30/06 and 1045 hrs on 08/31/06, someone entered a locked office by unknown means, pried open a cabinet, and took three laptop computers and a projector.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 8/31/2006, 3700 blk S. Four Mile Run Dr. Between 2100 hrs on 08/30/06 and 0830 hrs on 08/31/06, someone entered a locked office by unknown means and took a laptop computer.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 8/30/2006, unit block S. Glebe Rd. At approximately 2315 hrs on 08/30/06, a witness observed two men breaking into a locked shed behind a business by completely removing the shed’s doors. The suspects fled on foot when spotted. It does not appear that anything was taken.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (SERIES), 8/29/2006, south Arlington. Sometime during the evening of 08/28/06 or the morning of 08/29/06, someone broke out six vehicle windows and one apartment window, most likely with a BB or pellet gun. Six of the incidents took place in the Columbia Heights West neighborhood with one offense in the nearby Columbia Forest neighborhood. These incidents are likely related to 51 similar offenses that occurred over the weekend (08/25/06 to 08/27/06).
ARMED ROBBERY, 8/29/2006, 4800 blk Columbia Pike. At approximately 1820 hrs on 08/29/06, a man in a store placed some merchandise in his pocket and started to leave without paying. When the store clerk confronted the man, he pulled out a box cutter and fled when the clerk backed away. Officers located the suspect and the box cutter nearby. Arrested was Mario Ruben Tellez, 46, of Arlington. He was charged with Robbery and held without bond.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (SERIES), 8/28/2006, south Arlington. Between the evening of 08/25/06 and the morning of 08/28/06, someone vandalized at least 24 vehicles, probably using a BB or pellet gun. This is in addition to the 27 incidents already reported on Monday, August 28. In almost all of the cases, windows were broken. The offenses took place along the Columbia Pike corridor in the Douglas Park, Alcova Heights, Columbia Forest, Columbia Heights West, and Barcroft neighborhoods.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 8/28/2006, 2700 blk S. 16th St. At approximately 0246 hrs on 08/28/06, someone kicked in the rear door of a home, waking a resident. The resident went to check on the noise but the burglar had already left with two purses, cash, and credit cards.
PEEPING TOM, 8/27/2006, 900 blk of N. Wayne St. At approximately 2244 hrs. on 08/27/06, a woman was sitting in her living room when she observed someone on her front porch watching her through a window. The victim and suspect made eye contact and then he took off running. The suspect is described as a light skin man, possibly Hispanic, with black curly hair.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 8/27/2006, 700 blk of S. Glebe Road. Between 2000 hrs. on 08/20/06 and 0700 hrs. on 08/27/06, someone entered the Arlington Unity Methodist Church and took a set of tower speakers, an amplifier, two large floral arrangements and a box of children’s toys.
ARMED ROBBERY, 8/27/2006, 300 blk N. Thomas St. At approximately 2235 hrs on 08/27/06, a man sitting on the front steps of an apartment building was approached by a stranger who pointed a handgun at him. The suspect took the victim’s wallet and fled. A responding officer stopped a vehicle leaving the area and the victim identified the occupant of the vehicle as the person who robbed him. The handgun was recovered in the vehicle. Joseph Noah Presson, 19, of Arlington, was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony. He was held without bond.
ARMED ROBBERY, 8/26/2006, 1400 blk S. 28th St. At approximately 0040 hrs on 08/26/06, a man was standing outside talking on a cell phone. A stranger approached the man, punched him, then displayed a knife. The suspect took the man’s cell phone then fled to a waiting car in which he was driven away. The suspect is described as a black male, 26 to 27 years old, 6’ to 6’2” tall, medium build, with black dreadlocks to his shoulders, last seen wearing a black t-shirt with white letters, blue jeans, and a black baseball cap. The getaway car is described as light-colored, big, and boxy. The driver of the car was not seen.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 8/25/2006, 1600 blk Wilson Boulevard. Between 1400 hrs on 08/24/06 and 0530 hrs on 08/25/06, someone entered a construction site and took copper pipes and fittings.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 8/25/2006, 1600 blk Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 1925 hrs on 08/25/06, a woman saw a man standing on the sidewalk exposing himself. He left the area on foot. The suspect is described as a dark-complected white male in his 30’s, 6’1” tall, with wavy brown hair, wearing a gray t-shirt and light-colored blue jeans.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 8/25/2006, 5100 blk S. 8th Rd. At approximately 2139 hrs on 08/25/06, a verbal argument between two roommates escalated into a physical fight and one roommate stabbed the other in the neck and hand with a knife. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Arrested was Franklin Parker, 51, of Arlington. He was charged with Malicious Wounding and held without bond.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 8/24/2006, 1000 blk N. Highland St. At approximately 0205 hrs on 08/24/06, a truck was seen entering a construction site. Officers stopped the truck as it left the site about 15 minutes later. It was discovered that the two male occupants of the truck had just stolen hundreds of pieces of copper pipes and fittings. Both were arrested. Travis Tannehill, 29, of no fixed address, was charged with Burglary, Possession of Burglarious Tools, and Improper Registration and held on $5,000 bond. Nathan Allen Benson, 27, of Front Royal, was charged with Burglary and Possession of Marijuana and also held on $5,000 bond.
ASSAULT AND BATTERY / TRESPASSING, 8/24/2006, 400 blk N. Carlin Springs Rd. At approximately 1140 hrs on 08/24/06, a 14-year-old girl was followed by a man as she walked from a bus stop to a nearby home. The man continued to follow the girl as she entered the back yard of a private residence and then struck up a conversation with her. Ignoring the girl’s requests that he leave her alone and leave the property, the man attempted to hug her, then grabbed her arm and kissed it. The suspect left on foot when the victim went inside to call the police. The suspect is described as a dark-skinned black male in his late 20’s to early 30’s, 5’7” tall, 140 to 160 lbs, with short curly hair. He was last seen wearing a blue “Budweiser” hat, a dark blue long-sleeve zippered sweater, black pants, and black shoes.
ARMED ROBBERY, 8/24/2006, 1800 blk S. 28th St. At approximately 1450 hrs on 08/24/06, a man was riding his bicycle in the street when an unknown man stepped in front of him, forcing him to stop. The stranger produced a knife and ordered the man off of the bike. The victim dismounted and fled to a nearby location. When officers arrived on scene, the victim was able to point out the suspect and the stolen bicycle at a park in the area. Arrested was Santos Gutierrez-Tome, 23, of no fixed address. He was charged with Robbery and held without bond.
ARMED ROBBERY, 8/24/2006, 5500 blk Columbia Pike. At approximately 2252 hrs on 08/24/06, two men with shirts covering their faces entered a store. One man grabbed the clerk and pressed an object against his back, claiming it was a handgun, while the second man took money from the register. Both men fled in a white 4-door sedan. Suspect #1 is described as a dark-skinned black male, 6’ tall, 140 lbs, wearing a black t-shirt, black jeans, and black tennis shoes with white tops. Suspect #2 is described as a dark-skinned black male, 5’9” tall, 150 lbs, wearing a blue t-shirt, black pants and black shoes.
ARMED ROBBERY, 8/24/2006, 3100 blk N. Washington Boulevard. At approximately 0950 hrs on 08/24/06, two men armed with handguns robbed a bank of an undisclosed amount of money and fled in a white vehicle. The two suspects are believed to be black males. They were wearing white hazardous materials jumpsuits, dust masks, safety goggles, gloves, and construction hardhats.
ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY, 8/24/2006, 5000 blk S. 10th St. At approximately 0156 hrs on 08/24/06, a man was walking home when he was confronted by a stranger armed with a large knife. The suspect demanded the man’s money and possessions but the victim was able to take the suspect’s knife. The suspect fled on foot without getting anything. He is described as a white Hispanic male, 30’s, 5’8” tall, 170 lbs, last seen wearing a red shirt with a black stripe, blue jeans and white sneakers.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 8/23/2006, 800 blk N. Barton St. Between 1615 hrs and 1754 hrs on 08/23/06, someone entered an unlocked shed and took a bicycle.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 8/23/2006, 2500 blk N. 20th Rd. Between 0820 hrs and 1820 hrs on 08/23/06, someone entered an apartment by unknown means and tampered with several areas. It is not known at this time if anything was taken.
PEEPING TOM, 8/23/2006, 1700 blk S. Taylor St. At approximately 0100 hrs on 08/23/06, a man was seen looking into the bedroom window of an apartment. He fled when spotted by residents of the home. The suspect is described as a white Hispanic male, approximately 35 years old, 5’4” tall, 180 lbs with a “chunky” build, last seen wearing black pants, a white shirt with a black logo and a white hat. The suspect also had a noticeable bruise under his right eye.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 8/22/2006, 3600 blk of N. 10th St. Between 05/01/06 and 08/22/06, someone took five water heaters from a construction site. They were delivered sometime in May of this year and were noticed missing on 08/22/06.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 8/21/2006, 3400 blk Wilson Boulevard. Between 1600 hrs on 08/18/06 and 0600 hrs on 08/21/06, someone entered a construction site and took various items including a plastic utility cart, a digital camera and assorted tools.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 8/20/2006, 1300 blk N. Roosevelt St. Between 1830 hrs on 08/20/06 and 2229 hrs on 08/23/06, someone entered a detached garage via an unlocked door and took numerous tools.
ROBBERY BY FORCE, 8/20/2006, 5100 blk Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 0600 hrs on 08/20/06, two men started to leave a store with alcohol they had not paid for. When a store employee asked them to pay for the merchandise the two men assaulted him, as well as a second employee who attempted to help. The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle. Police located and arrested both suspects at a residence in the 6400 block of Wilson Boulevard. Wilson Grajales-Pulgarin, 19, of Arlington, was charged with Robbery and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor and held without bond. A 16 year old male from Manassas was transported to juvenile detention with a Robbery charge pending.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 8/19/2006, 900 blk N. Stafford St. Between 0130 hrs and 0830 hrs on 08/19/06, someone entered a restaurant, possibly by an unsecured kitchen door, and took numerous bottles of alcohol and a radio.
ATTEMPTED RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 8/19/2006, 1200 blk N. Taylor St. Between 1100 hrs on 08/17/06 and 1725 hrs on 08/19/06, someone entered a porch by cutting a screen door and broke a window pane on the door leading from the porch into the home. The person was not able to enter the house due to the presence of a deadbolt lock on the door.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 8/17/2006, 5100 blk S. 7th Rd. Between 1800 and 1847 hrs on 08/17/06, three white Hispanic males entered an apartment without permission and ate some of the residents’ food. They fled when confronted by a neighbor, leaving behind a bicycle and numerous empty beer bottles.
ATTEMPTED RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 8/17/2006, 4700 blk N. 25th St. Between 1300 hrs on 08/16/06 and 1918 hrs on 08/17/06, someone attempted to break into a home. The person broke a window out on a side door, reached in and unlocked two door locks but could not gain entry due to a deadbolt lock that required a key to open.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 8/17/2006, 4700 blk N. Rock Spring Rd. Between 2220 and 2233 hrs on 08/17/06, someone entered an open attached garage and used a hidden spare key to open the door from the garage into the house. It appears that the burglar alarm scared the person off before they took anything.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 8/17/2006, 600 blk S. 20th St. Between 1830 hrs and 2045 hrs on 08/17/06, someone entered a home, most likely through an unsecured front door, and took various items including credit cards and cash from a purse.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 8/17/2006, 3400 blk S. Potomac Ave. At approximately 0137 hrs on 08/16/06, officers responded to the intersection of Jefferson Davis Highway and S. Glebe Rd. for a report of people breaking into a building on a construction site. Officers surrounded the construction site with the help of a Park Police helicopter and officers from the Alexandria Police and Park Police. Three residents of Annandale were located at the scene attempting to steal copper pipes. Arrested were Julio C. Morales-Urias, 22; Leonardo F. Morales, 26; and Reina E. Morales-Aldana, 22. Ms. Morales-Aldana was charged with Unlawful Entry, Grand Larceny, and Grand Larceny with the Intent to Distribute and held on $5,000 bond. Mr. Morales-Urias was charged with the above charges, as well as Possession of Burglarious Tools and held on $6,000 bond. Mr. Morales was charged with all of the above charges and also with Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute and held on $10,000 bond.
ATTEMPTED RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 8/17/2006, 1000 blk S. Frederick St. At approximately 0120 hrs on 08/17/06, a female resident of an apartment heard noises and discovered a man outside of her bedroom window ripping a hole in the screen. Upon being discovered, the man fled on foot. About 20 minutes later, a male resident of the apartment heard noises and was able to observe the suspect again tearing at the screen of the bedroom window. The residents called police who apprehended the suspect without incident. Arrested was Manuel Rivas, 28, of Arlington. He was charged with Attempted Burglary and received a $7,500 unsecured bond.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 8/16/2006, 200 blk N. Wakefield St. Between 1600 hrs on 08/12/06 and 1830 hrs on 08/16/06, someone broke into a home by unknown means and took a handgun, a collectible knife, DVDs, cash and jewelry.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 8/16/2006, 4900 blk S. Chesterfield Rd. At approximately 2345 hrs on 08/16/06, a fight broke out among people watching a soccer game. One man was hit over the head with a metal chair by another man who later fled on foot. The victim was transported to a local hospital for a laceration to the head. The suspect is described as a black male, 20 years old, 5’7”, thin, with dreadlocks, last seen wearing a red shirt and blue jeans.
ROBBERY BY FORCE, 8/16/2006, 2600 blk S. Shirlington Rd. At approximately 2108 hrs on 08/16/06, a man walking down the street was approached by a man on a bicycle. The man on the bicycle grabbed a pack of cigarettes and cash out of the victim’s hand and fled on the bike. The suspect is described as a white Hispanic male, approximately 22 years old, 5’6” tall, 140 lbs, with short black hair and brown eyes, last seen wearing a red t-shirt, grey and black denim pants, and sneakers.
SEXUAL ASSAULT, 8/15/2006, Unknown location. On 08/14/06, a 16 year old girl was reported missing. At approximately 0130 hrs on 08/15/06, the runaway decided to go home. While walking on S. Glebe Rd., she was approached by a man who offered her a ride and took her to his home at an unknown location. The man sexually assaulted the girl at his residence. She was able to leave the residence and find her way to school in the morning. The suspect is described as a white Hispanic male with a mustache and goatee.
LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 8/15/2006, southeast Arlington. Between 1900 hrs on 08/14/06 and 0813 hrs on 08/15/06, someone entered 5 vehicles in the Aurora Highlands neighborhood by smashing out windows. Various items were taken including a cell phone, a laptop computer, a video game controller, two briefcases, a backpack, clothing, and cash.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 8/15/2006, 2400 blk S. Lowell St. Between 1300 hrs and 2200 hrs on 08/15/06, someone entered the rear door of a home by cutting a screen on a kitchen window and reaching in to unlock the door. A desktop computer, a video game console, and numerous articles of clothing were taken.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (SERIES), 8/14/2006, north central Arlington. Sometime during the evening / nighttime hours of 08/13/06 and the morning of 08/14/06, someone used a BB gun or similar weapon to shoot out windows on at least 12 vehicles. The crimes were concentrated mostly in the Donaldson Run, Dover-Crystal, and Cherrydale neighborhoods.
PEEPING TOM / INDECENT EXPOSURE, 8/14/2006, 1000 blk S. Frederick St. At approximately 2135 hrs on 08/14/06, a woman saw a naked man watching her from outside of her living room window. The man fled on foot when she approached the window. The suspect is described as a white male with a shaved head, approximately 27 years old, 5’7” tall, 180 lbs.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 8/13/2006, 4900 blk S. Chesterfield Rd. At approximately 1618 hrs on 08/13/06, a fight broke out among two soccer teams playing each other. During the fight, a man watching the game came onto the field and hit one of the players in the face with a rock. The victim was transported to a local hospital with facial injuries. Arrested was Simon Woldtensae Teklehaimanot, 32, of Eagan, Minnesota. He was charged with Malicious Wounding and held without bond.
ATTEMPTED SEXUAL ASSAULT, 8/13/2006, 1200 blk N. Rolfe St. At approximately 0315 hrs on 08/13/06, a woman in front of an apartment building was attacked by a stranger. The man dragged the woman to a secluded area nearby and attempted to sexually assault her. The woman fought against the suspect and screamed for help, getting the attention of a resident in the apartment building. When the resident yelled at the suspect to stop, he fled on foot. The suspect is described as a white Hispanic male, late 20’s to early 30’s, 5’7” tall, with a “chunky” build and short hair, last seen wearing a blue polo shirt and blue jeans.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 8/12/2006, 4000 blk N. 9th St. Between 1500 hrs and 1930 hrs on 08/12/06, someone entered an apartment via an unlocked door and took a video game system.
LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 8/12/2006, 800 blk N. McKinley Rd. Between 2000 hrs on 08/11/06 and 1000 hrs on 08/12/06, someone broke into three cars by smashing passenger-side windows. Various items were taken, including a portable CD player and some compact discs.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 8/12/2006, 3600 blk S. Glebe Rd. Between 1800 hrs on 08/11/06 and 0700 hrs on 08/12/06, someone entered a construction site and broke into a metal storage trailer. A large amount of copper pipe and various tools were taken.
ARSON, 8/12/2006, unit blk Arlington Boulevard. At approximately 0515 hrs on 08/12/06, someone set fire to a wooden bridge on a bike path. The Fire Department is investigating.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 8/11/2006, 4900 blk S. Chesterfield Rd. Between 1510 hrs on 08/10/06 and 0710 hrs on 08/11/06, someone entered a school after hours and took a DVD player and a projector from a classroom. The burglar also tried to pry open the door to the computer room, but was not successful.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 8/11/2006, 5700 blk N. Carlin Springs Rd. At approximately 1236 hrs on 08/11/06, residents of a house discovered a man who had surreptitiously entered the home and hidden in a vacant room. When confronted, the man fled. Officers located the man nearby and arrested him. Lynn Mathis, 24, of no fixed address, was charged with Burglary and Possession of Burglarious Tools and held on $1,000 bond.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 8/11/2006, 4700 blk N. 25th St. Between 2134 and 2145 hrs on 08/11/06, someone entered a rear patio by cutting a screen then pried open and dislodged a window into the house. It is unknown at this time if entry was made or if anything was taken.
GRAND LARCENY BY FALSE PRETENSES, 8/11/2006, 1300 blk N. Garfield St. At approximately 1115 hrs on 08/11/06, an elderly woman was approached by a man asking for a ride to a shelter. A second man who pretended to be a stranger to the first became involved in the conversation. With an elaborate story and with the second man playing along, the first suspect convinced the second suspect and then the victim to show him they had money in the bank by making temporary withdrawals. The suspects used sleight of hand to steal several thousand dollars in cash which the victim thought had been placed in her glove compartment.
ATTEMPTED MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 8/11/2006, 2400 blk S. Glebe Rd. At approximately 1755 hrs on 08/11/06, two men were jogging on a bike path when they were flagged down by a stranger. The men tried to discern what the stranger needed but the unknown man became agitated and confrontational. The suspect then pulled a knife out of his pocket. The two victims were able to disarm the suspect and detain him until police arrived. Crowalts S. Cruz-Soriano, 21, of Alexandria, was arrested and charged with two counts of Attempted Malicious Wounding. He was held on $4,000 bond.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 8/10/2006, 1600 blk S. Eads St. Between 1530 hrs and 1700 hrs on 08/10/06, someone entered an apartment through an unlocked door and took a computer, video game console, and subwoofer.
ROBBERY BY FORCE, 8/10/2006, 900 blk S. Dinwiddie St. At approximately 2101 hrs on 08/10/06, a woman was walking on the street when a man pushed her and took her purse which contained cash and credit cards. The man fled on foot. The suspect is described as a B/M in his 30’s, 5’9” to 6’ tall, with braided hair, last seen wearing a white t-shirt, baggy blue jeans, and black shoes.
ASSAULT ON A POLICE OFFICER, 8/9/2006, 3500 blk S. 23rd Rd. At approximately 2107 hrs on 08/09/06, a fight was reported at a community center. One officer arrived on scene almost immediately and stopped a vehicle that was attempting to flee the scene in a reckless manner. The man driving the vehicle threatened to run the officer over, refused to comply with any of the officer’s commands and grabbed the officer’s pepper spray causing it to discharge. The man then got out of his vehicle and repeatedly hit the officer in the face and head before being subdued by additional officers. While this assault was occurring, another officer detained the male passenger of the vehicle and was subsequently assaulted by a female friend of the passenger. The driver, Jermaine Shumar Cameron, 19, of Arlington, was arrested and charged with felony Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, Destruction of Property, Disorderly Conduct, and Reckless Driving. He was held on $10,000 bond. Mr. Cameron was also found to be the suspect in the original fight but the victim of that assault declined to press charges. The female suspect, Shena Lanette Williams, 22, of Arlington, was arrested and charged with felony Assault and Battery on a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest. She was held on $3,500 bond.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 8/9/2006, 3700 blk N. Woodrow St. At approximately 1604 hrs on 08/09/06, a resident saw two male juveniles run out of his house. He went inside and discovered that a video game console and a video game were missing. Entry was apparently made through one of several unlocked doors. Suspect #1 is described as a W/M, approximately 17 years old, 5’8”, 140 lbs, with black hair, wearing a light blue polo shirt and blue jeans. Suspect #2 is described as a W/M, approximately 17 years old.
BURGLARY, 8/9/2006, 1300 Bock of N. Veitch St. Between 0000 hrs on 08/04/06 and 2359 hrs on 08/06/06 someone took a bicycle from the balcony of a 5th floor apartment.
BURGLARY, 8/8/2006, 2700 Block of S. Veitch St. Between 0945 and 1230 hrs on 08/08/06, someone entered an apartment and took a laptop computer, two webcams, a microphone and several items of clothing.
BURGLARY, 8/8/2006, 5500 Block of Columbia Pike. Between 0550 hrs on 08/01/06 and 2327 hrs on 08/08/06, someone entered an apartment while the owner was away on business and took a television, tools and jewelry. There were no obvious signs of forced entry.
GRAND LARCENY FROM PERSON, 8/7/2006, 1400 blk N. Courthouse Rd. At approximately 1715 hrs on 08/07/06, a woman was standing in line at the Police Information counter in the courthouse. She heard a jingle of keys and turned to find that a man standing next to her had removed keys and some cash from her purse. When the man realized he was caught, he handed the items back to the woman. After the suspect left the scene, it was discovered that his reason for being at the Police Information counter was to recover his vehicle which had been impounded earlier in the day. A warrant was obtained for Kevin Bola Osilesi, 23, of District Heights, MD. Mr. Osilesi was located and arrested at an Arlington address and is being held on $2,500 bond.
ELUDING / HIT AND RUN, 8/7/2006, 3000 blk S. Glebe Rd. At approximately 1215 hrs on 08/07/06, Inspectors from the U.S. Marshall Service pursued a suspect off of southbound 395 into the Crystal City area. The suspect vehicle eventually collided with an SUV at the intersection of S. Glebe Rd. and S. Arlington Ridge Rd., injuring an occupant of the SUV. The suspect fled on foot but was detained shortly thereafter by the Marshalls. Rajee L. Wyatt (AKA Demorris Lee Wyatt and Melvin L. Jordan), 37, of Alexandria, was arrested and charged with Felony Eluding, Felony Hit and Run, Misdemeanor Hit and Run, Possession of Marijuana, and Driving With a Suspended License. Mr. Wyatt is currently being treated for injuries in a local hospital and will be taken to the detention center for a bond hearing when he is sufficiently recovered.
ARMED ROBBERY, 8/7/2006, 5500 blk Columbia Pike. At approximately 0730 hrs on 08/07/06, two masked men entered a convenience store and robbed the clerk of cash. One of the men held a hard object against the side of the lone customer in the store. The robbers fled on foot. Both suspects are described as B/Ms, 17-18 years old, 5’7” to 5’9”, 120 lbs. One suspect was wearing a white t-shirt, black pants, and black mask. The other suspect was wearing a black t-shirt, black pants, and black mask.
SEXUAL BATTERY, 8/7/2006, 100 Block of S. Lexington Street. Between 20:20 and 22:00 on 08/05/06, a 17 year old girl was sexually assaulted by a man in his vehicle. The victim says she had accepted a ride from the suspect at the Skyline Shopping Center. The suspect is described as a black male with a thin build, approximately 5’9” tall, with short black hair and no facial hair. The vehicle is described only as gray four-door sedan.
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY, 8/5/2006, 3700 Block of Wilson Boulevard. At 23:27 on 08/05/06 a 57 year old man was walking westbound when a man jumped out from behind a bush and grabbed him. The suspect covered the victim’s mouth with his hand, dragged him behind the bush, threw him to the ground and went through his pockets. The victim yelled for help and the suspect fled when he saw three men approach. One of those witnesses called 911. The suspect is described as a black male in his 40’s, approximately 5’10” tall. He was wearing a white bandana on his head, a dark shirt and dark shorts.
ATTEMPED MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 8/5/2006, 2400 Block of S. Fort Scott Drive. During a domestic argument a 46 year old woman grabbed a kitchen knife and lunged towards her father. The woman then left the house with her two small children and was stopped by officers a short distance away. She was charged with attempted malicious wounding and released on an unsecured $1000 bond.
ASSAULT AND BATTERY, 8/4/2006, 800 Block of S. Arlington Mill Drive. Between 19:40 and 20:00 on 08/04/06 a 25 year old man was riding his bike on Four Mile Run Trail when he was suddenly struck in the face by someone on his right side. The victim fell off his bike and only remembers being kicked and punched by two Hispanic males. His wallet and bike were not taken.
POSSESSION WITH INTENT, 8/4/2006, I-395. At approximately 02:30 on 08-04-06 an officer stopped a vehicle that was speeding and repeatedly changing lanes. A K-9 Unit conducted a sweep of the vehicle and alerted on a purse belonging to the passenger. A large quantity of crack cocaine and ecstasy was found inside the bag. The driver was also carrying more than $1000 in cash.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 8/4/2006, 1000 blk N. Highland St. Between 1500 hrs on 08/03/06 and some time on 08/04/06, someone entered a construction site and broke into two offices by prying the doors. A copier, a digital camera, a modem, and various hand tools were taken.
ROBBERY BY FORCE, 8/3/2006, 4200 blk Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 1800 hrs on 08/03/06, a woman was walking and reading from her PDA when a man ran out of a nearby store, grabbed the PDA from her hand, and fled.
PEEPING TOM, 8/3/2006, 200 blk N. George Mason Dr. At approximately 1618 hrs on 08/03/06, a citizen observed a man on a chimney looking into the windows of an apartment building. The witness followed the man and called the police. The first officer to arrive on scene was assaulted by the suspect. After several struggles and a 3-block foot pursuit, a second officer assisted the first officer in taking the suspect into custody. The victim of the peeping offense did not wish to prosecute. Efrain Benitez Sibrian AKA Erick Alexandro Arias, 26, of Arlington, was arrested and charged with Assault on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, and two counts of Possession of Fraudulent Identification. He was held without bond.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 8/2/2006, 3100 blk N. 9th Rd. Between 0900 hrs on 07/29/06 and 1745 hrs on 08/02/06, someone entered an apartment by cutting a screen and smashing a kitchen window. A DVD player, an MP3 player, and several items of jewelry were taken.
ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY, 8/2/2006, 2300 blk Columbia Pike. At approximately 1630 hrs on 08/02/06, a man entered a gas station convenience store, produced a knife, and demanded money from the store manager. The manager struggled with the man and was cut by the knife during the struggle. Another employee came to the manager’s aid and together they subdued the suspect until police arrived. Sean Deloatche, 29, of Arlington, was arrested and charged with Attempted Robbery, Malicious Wounding During Commission of a Felony, Malicious Wounding, and Possession of a Concealed Weapon. He was held without bond.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 8/2/2006, 4400 blk N. Pershing Dr. At approximately 0300 hrs on 08/02/06, someone entered an apartment by removing a screen from an open window and took a grandfather clock, a backpack and a sugar jar. All of the items taken were recovered in the area. The building next door had a screen on a bathroom window destroyed around the same time but entry was not made.
LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 8/1/2006, 1700-2600 blk J.D. Highway, 1400 blk Crystal Dr. In a two-day period, seven vehicles parked in hotel parking lots were broken into. Between 0730 hrs and 2100 hrs on 07/31/06, someone broke windows on three vehicles. Between 1250 hrs and 2140 hrs on 08/01/06, someone broke windows on four vehicles. All seven cases appeared to be with the intent to commit larceny but three of the cars had nothing taken and two of the cars had only change stolen. Various items were taken from the other two cars including sunglasses, a game console and video game, a camera, and a DVD player.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 8/1/2006, 3600 blk Columbia Pike. Between 1920 hrs on 07/31/06 and 0955 hrs on 08/01/06, someone entered a business by cutting the screen and breaking the glass on a rear window and took a large amount of music CDs.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 8/1/2006, 4700 blk N. 11th St. Between 1200 hrs on 07/02/06 and 1038 hrs on 08/01/06, someone entered a home, possibly through the garage, and took a handgun, a camera, and jewelry.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 8/1/2006, 4800 blk N. 16th St. At approximately 0232 hrs on 08/01/06, someone entered an unsecured attached garage and rummaged through items, waking the residents. The burglar found a spare key in the garage and put it in the front door of the home but was scared off by the residents before entering. Nothing was taken.
INDECENT EXPOSURE / PEEPING TOM, 8/1/2006, 5000 blk S. 10th St. At approximately 2158 hrs on 08/01/06, a woman discovered a naked man looking into her kitchen window. When the woman went to call the police, the man fled. The suspect is described as a B/M, 30-35 years old, 6’2” to 6’3” tall, 200 lbs, with short black hair, wearing only white socks and black shoes.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 7/31/2006, 1900 blk N. Lynn St. Between 1500 hrs on 07/29/06 and 0600 hrs on 07/31/06, someone entered a building under construction, broke into storage areas and took a large amount of construction tools and equipment.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 7/31/2006, 2100 blk Clarendon Boulevard. Between 1800 hrs on 07/28/06 and 0410 hrs on 07/31/06, someone broke into the Office of the Treasurer and the Department of Motor Vehicles office located in the County Building by prying open a metal security gate and smashing a window. Several items were tampered with but it is unknown at this time if anything was taken.
ABDUCTION / ATTEMPTED RAPE, 7/31/2006, 1800 blk S. Bell St. At approximately 1930 hrs on 07/31/06, a female in a bathroom was approached from behind by a male co-worker. The man grabbed the woman and forced her into a nearby room where he attempted to rape her. The woman was able to resist the suspect’s efforts and he left. Arrested was Jose C. Rauda, 36, of Alexandria. He was charged with Abduction with Intent to Defile and Attempted Rape and held without bond.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 7/29/2006, 5500 blk Columbia Pike. Between 06/28/06 and 0100 hrs on 07/29/06, a resident was away from home. During that period, someone entered the residence, possibly by prying the front door, and took various compact discs and DVDs. A check card was also stolen and used fraudulently.
PEEPING TOM, 7/29/2006, 2700 blk S. 12th St. At approximately 2112 hrs on 07/29/06, a woman spotted a man looking in her living room window. The man immediately fled. The suspect is described as a W/M in his early 20’s with dark hair.
ROBBERY BY INTIMIDATION, 7/28/2006, 1000 blk S. Columbus St. At approximately 0010 hrs on 07/28/06, a man on the street was approached by four men who demanded his money. After the victim handed over his cash, he was forced to go into a nearby store and withdraw more money from an ATM. The victim withdrew money and gave it to the suspects who fled in a green or blue 4-door sedan. The suspects are described as #1) W/M, 20-22 years old, 6’3”, 170 lbs, brown hair, goatee with thin strip of hair down each side of jaw, wearing baggy white t-shirt, blue jeans, and white baseball cap, #2) B/M, 18-20 years old, 5’11”, 150 lbs, black hair, dark complexion, wearing black or green t-shirt and baggy blue jeans, #3) B/M, 5’6”, 145 lbs, black hair, dark complexion, wearing white sleeveless undershirt and baggy blue jeans, and #4) B/M , 5’8”, 160 lbs, black hair, dark complexion, wearing dark t-shirt and blue jeans.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 7/27/2006, 2000 blk S. Crystal Dr. Between 0130 hrs and 0815 hrs on 07/27/06, someone entered a business, most likely through a rear door, and pried open an office door. Several items were moved or damaged but at this time it appears that only alcohol was taken.
BRANDISHING A FIREARM, 7/26/2006, 1800 blk S. Hayes St. At approximately 1959 hrs on 07/26/06, several men were playing basketball. After a dispute in the game, one man took a handgun out of his bag and threatened another player before leaving on foot. Officers responded and located the suspect and the handgun nearby. Arrested was Osman A. Bangura, 29, of Arlington. He was charged with Brandishing a Firearm and held on $15,000 bond. During the investigation of this incident, officers discovered that another man at the basketball court also had a handgun in his bag. Jamall Andre Morris, 21, of Alexandria, was arrested and released on a summons for Possession of a Concealed Weapon.
SEXUAL BATTERY, 7/26/2006, 800 blk S. Glebe Rd. At approximately 1940 hrs on 07/26/06, a woman was taking trash out to the curb when a man ran up behind her and groped her. The woman screamed and the man fled on foot. The suspect was described as a W/H/M in his early 20’s, 5’7” tall, thin, wearing a dark blue baggy shirt, blue jeans, white tennis shoes, and a dark baseball cap.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 7/25/2006, 1000 blk S. Quebec St. Between 2200 hrs and 2359 hrs on 07/25/06, someone entered a residence and damaged a large amount of property including clothes and a television. There were no signs of forced entry.
ROBBERY BY FORCE, 7/25/2006, 1200 blk S. Quincy St. At approximately 0600 hrs on 07/25/06, a 17 year old boy was walking to visit a friend when he was assaulted by several young men and robbed of his cell phone. The victim was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 1/13/2006, 1200 blk S. Scott St. At approximately 1615 hrs on 01/13/06, a man was moving items from his car into his apartment. He brought a CD case with hundreds of discs into the apartment and left it just inside the closed but unlocked door. While the man was upstairs, someone entered the apartment via the unlocked door and took the CD case.
GRAND LARCENY, 7/23/2006, 1100 S. Hayes St. Between 1416 and 1422 hrs on 07/23/06 two males and two females stole a significant amount of merchandise from Victoria’s Secret.
GRAND LARCENY, 7/23/2006, 1100 S. Hayes St. At 1130 on 07/23/06 someone entered a store, grabbed 15 sweaters and ran out. The suspect is described as a black male, about 25 years old, 6’1’’, thin in build, with a dark complexion.
VANDALISM TO AUTOS, 7/22/2006, 1000 S. Frederick St. Between 0100 and 0110 hrs on 07/22/06 someone vandalized multiple vehicles. 5 cars had flat tires and smashed windows.
GRAND LARCENY/BAIT CAR ACTIVIATION, 7/22/2006, 1300 S. George Mason Drive. At 0334 on 07/22/06 a suspect entered a police bait vehicle and attempted to steal items. Officers responded and arrested Christian Marvin Orellana, 24.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 7/21/2006, 47oo block of King St. Between 2130 hrs on 07/20/06 and 0845 hrs on 07/21/06 someone entered an auto dealership, broke into the safe with a hammer and stole cash. Another business in the same building was also burglarized but nothing was reported missing.
GRAND LARCENY, 7/20/2006, 3200 block S. Columbia Pike. Between 1600 and 2400 hrs on 07/20/06 someone took two bank deposit bags containing cash and checks from a business.
PEEPING TOM, 7/21/2006, 1900 blk Columbia Pike, At approximately 0145 hrs on 07/21/06, a woman was in her bathroom when she heard a noise at the window. The woman looked outside and saw a man standing in the bushes directly outside of her bathroom window. The man fled when spotted. The suspect was described as an unknown race male in his 30’s, 5’11” tall, wearing a dark shirt and dark baseball cap.
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY BY FORCE, 7/19/2006, 600 blk N. Glebe Rd., At approximately 2157 hrs on 07/19/06, a woman was walking home when she was approached by a man. The man grabbed her purse and tried to pull it from her grip. The woman fell to the ground but did not relinquish the purse. She was dragged on the ground a short distance before the suspect gave up and fled. The suspect was described as a B/M, 18 to 25 years old, with short dark hair, wearing a white shirt and dark pants.
ATTEMPTED ABDUCTION, 7/19/2006, S. 11th St. near S. George Mason Dr., At approximately 2132 hrs on 07/19/06, a woman was visiting a home in Arlington when a man known to her confronted her at her car. The man tried to pull the woman out of her car to take her with him but was unsuccessful. A warrant for Attempted Abduction was issued for Derek Loring Herford, 41, of Ridgeway, VA. After Mr. Herford left the victim, he went to her home in Hyattsville, MD. Prince George’s County Police located Mr. Herford there and arrested him. Unrelated to the incident in Arlington, P.G. County Police charged Mr. Herford with Assault, Stalking, and a weapons charge.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 7/18/2006, 1800 blk N. Nelson St., Between 1300 hrs on 07/15/06 and 1300 hrs on 07/18/06, someone entered a vacant house, most likely by smashing glass out of the front door with a brick. Nothing was taken from the house.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 7/17/2006, 6900 blk N. 29th St., Between 1200 hrs on 07/15/06 and 0800 hrs on 07/17/06, someone entered the unsecured basement of a house under construction and took a table saw and a nail gun.
SEXUAL BATTERY, 7/17/2006, 800 blk S. Wayne St., At approximately 1810 hrs on 07/17/06, a woman standing outside of her apartment building was approached by a man who asked her for money and tried to kiss her. As the woman tried to get the man to leave her alone, he again tried to kiss her and grabbed her buttocks. The man left on foot. The suspect was described as a dark-complected black male, 5’6”, thin, wearing black pants, a black shirt and a grey skull cap on his head. He was also carrying a light blue shirt over his shoulder.
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY BY FORCE, 7/17/2006, 4300 blk N. Pershing Dr., At approximately 2310 hrs on 07/17/06, a man walking home was grabbed by two men who tried to take the gold chain from his neck. The victim was able to break free and run away from the two suspects. After calling the police, the victim and two friends went back outside and chased after the two suspects. The victim was able to detain one of the suspects and responding officers caught the second suspect nearby. The men arrested were Gilmar Hernandez, 23, of Arlington, and Carlos Bautista, 22, of no fixed address. They were charged with Attempted Robbery and held without bond.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 7/16/2006, 4400 blk N. Pershing Dr.,At approximately 0240 hrs on 07/16/06, a man standing in front of his residence was approached by an intoxicated man who began to yell at him. The intoxicated man then picked up a two-by-four and hit the victim in the head and the back before fleeing. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. A Malicious Wounding warrant is on file for Elvis Santizo-Lima, 28.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 7/15/2006, 1900 blk Columbia Pike, Between 1100 hrs on 07/12/06 and 2100 hrs on 07/15/06, the victim was out of town. During that time, the victim’s apartment door was apparently left unsecured by maintenance workers. Someone entered the unsecured apartment and took several valuables including silver candlesticks, a video camera, and a radio.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 7/14/2006, 600 blk N. Glebe Rd., At approximately 1828 hrs on 07/14/06, two male coworkers in a store got into an argument. The argument escalated into a physical altercation and one of the men severely cut the other man’s hand with a knife. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Arrested was Felicito Mendoza, 39, of Woodbridge. He was charged with Malicious Wounding and held without bond.
BURGLARY/DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY, 7/14/2006, 5600 blk S. 7th Place, At approximately 0340 hrs on 07/14/06, multiple persons entered a home by breaking the front door then damaged numerous windows, mirrors, and pieces of furniture. The victims fled upstairs at the beginning of the incident and were not able to describe the suspects.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 7/13/2006, 3400 blk S. Glebe Rd., At approximately 1630 hrs on 07/13/06, a woman was walking on the street. A man in a construction site yelled to get her attention and exposed himself to her. When the woman threatened to report the suspect, he walked away. The suspect was described as a B/M, mid 30’s or older, 5’8” to 5’9” tall, wearing a yellow and green safety vest and a hard hat.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 7/12/2006, 2100 blk N. 21st St., At approximately 1958 hrs on 07/12/06, a woman was jogging on a bike path when she observed a man in the adjacent wooded area intentionally exposing his buttocks. The suspect is described as a W/M, late 20’s, with blonde hair, last seen wearing a t-shirt and running shorts.
ATTEMPTED RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 7/11/2006, 800 blk S. Greenbrier St., Between 1845 hrs and 2030 hrs on 07/11/06, a group of six juveniles tried three times to enter a secure parking garage attached to an apartment complex by forcing the entry door. An employee of the apartment complex chased the juveniles away each time. The suspects are described only as three B/Ms and three W/H/Ms, ranging in age from 9 to 15.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 7/11/2006, 5800 blk S. 5th St., At approximately 1722 hrs on 07/11/06, a woman observed a man in a truck exposing himself. The suspect was described as a W/H/M with a big stomach, wearing dark green pants and a dark-colored baseball cap. He was driving a green Dodge pickup truck.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 7/11/2006, 1400 blk N. Veitch St., At approximately 0810 hrs on 07/11/06, a man was observed masturbating in public. Arrested and charged with Obscene Sexual Display was Albert Lee Cobb, 54, of no fixed address.
BURGLARY/ABDUCTION, 7/11/2006, 200 blk N. Barton St., At approximately 0420 hrs on 07/11/06, a woman sleeping in her home was awakened by sounds and discovered that her ex-boyfriend had climbed into her home through a window. The ex-boyfriend, who had been stalking the woman since the couple broke up about a month earlier, prevented her from calling police or leaving the residence. After more than four hours of captivity, the woman was able to escape the home and contact police. The suspect fled the scene. Warrants for Burglary, Abduction, and Stalking are on file for Sjuvon Adair Richardson, 31, of Alexandria.
ABDUCTION, 7/11/2006, 1300 blk Jefferson Davis Highway, At approximately 2115 hrs on 07/11/06, a woman who works for an escort service was held in a hotel room against her will by her male client. The victim was able to escape into the hallway but the suspect followed her and restrained her from leaving. Other hotel guests contacted security and the police. Arrested was David W. Slaughter, 39, of Florence, Kentucky. He was charged with abduction and held without bond.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 7/10/2006, 3300 blk Arlington Boulevard, At approximately 0958 hrs on 07/10/06, a woman saw a man exposing himself. The suspect was described as a W/H/M or B/M, 5’7” tall, thin, wearing a baseball cap, burgundy shirt, and black pants. On 07/17/06, the victim spotted the suspect in the area again. At that time he was wearing a red baseball cap, navy blue shirt with red piping, and brown or black pants.
ARMED ROBBERY, 7/10/2006, 5400 blk Lee Highway, At approximately 2333 hrs on 07/10/06, a man entered a business and announced a robbery. He held an object that the clerk believed was a gun against the clerk’s arm and ordered the manager of the business to give him all of the money in the cash registers. After receiving the money, the man fled in a vehicle. A responding officer located the getaway vehicle at a nearby gas station and took the suspect into custody. Arrested was John Gregory Brown, 36, of Arlington. He was charged with two counts of Robbery and held without bond.
LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 7/10/2006, 1011/1111 Arlington Boulevard, Between 1900 hrs on 07/09/06 and 0700 hrs on 07/10/06, someone broke into five cars and took various items including car radios, compact discs, clothing, and electronic items.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 7/10/2006, 1700 blk N. Danville St., Between 1800 hrs on 07/08/06 and 0700 hrs on 07/10/06, someone entered a house under construction by forcing a door and took a miter saw.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 7/10/2006, 900 blk N. Harrison St., At approximately 2011 hrs on 07/10/06, a man who had been evicted a year earlier was seen in the attached garage of a home. Officers responded and took the man into custody. Arrested was Floyd Ransford, 41, of no fixed address. He was charged with Burglary and held without bond.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 7/10/2006, N. Jackson St./Arlington Boulevard, At approximately 0945 hrs on 07/10/06 a man was seen near the foot bridge over Arlington Boulevard exposing himself. The suspect was described as a W/M, 20’s to 30’s, with a thin face, wearing a red hat.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 7/10/2006, 2500 blk N. Glebe Rd., At approximately 1030 hrs on 07/10/06, a woman was loading items into her vehicle when she noticed a man nearby exposing himself. The suspect was described as a W/H/M, late 20’s to early 30’s, 5’8” tall, 175 lbs., last seen wearing a black t-shirt and tan pants. He left the scene in a white SUV.
SEXUAL BATTERY, 7/10/2006, 4900 blk S. Chesterfield Rd., At approximately 1949 hrs on 07/10/06, a 14-year old boy approached an 11-year old girl at a pool and attempted to engage her in conversation. She went into the pool to avoid the boy but he followed her into the water and touched her inappropriately against her will. The 14-year old male juvenile was detained and later released to a parent. A juvenile petition is pending.
ATTEMPTED RAPE / MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 7/9/2006, bike trail between S. Walter Reed Dr. and S. George Mason Dr., At approximately 1820 hrs on 07/09/06, a woman walking on a bike trail was attacked from behind by a man. The man pulled the victim into nearby bushes and assaulted her. He attempted to rape the victim but she fought him off and he fled. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment for serious facial injuries and lacerations to the head. The suspect was described as a W/H/M last seen wearing a blue short-sleeve shirt, cut-off jean shorts, white socks and shoes.
SEXUAL BATTERY, 7/8/2006, 500 blk S. Ivy St., At approximately 2000 hrs on 07/08/06, a 16-year old girl was approached by a young man who slapped her on the buttocks and made a lewd comment. The suspect was described as a W/H/M, approximately 16 years old, 5’5” tall, wearing khaki pants and a baseball cap.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 7/8/2006, 3300 blk Wilson Boulevard, At approximately 0420 hrs on 07/08/06, two men outside of a restaurant were attacked by a group of men. The attackers punched and kicked the victims and cut them with broken bottles. The two victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment of lacerations. The only description of the suspects is six to eight W/H/M in their early 20’s.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 7/6/2006, 5600 blk S. 5th Rd., Between 1325 hrs and 1615 hrs on 07/06/06, someone entered a home by kicking in a rear door. Nothing appears to have been taken. Investigating officers were able to locate and take into custody a 17-year old male suspect. After being interviewed by detectives, the juvenile was taken to the Northern Virginia Juvenile Detention Center. A juvenile petition is pending.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 7/6/2006, 1100 blk S. Fern St., Between 1600 hrs on 07/05/06 and 0630 hrs on 07/06/06, someone entered a construction site by cutting security chains and took a large amount of copper pipe and hand tools.
SEXUAL BATTERY, 7/5/2006, 1300 blk S. 28th St., At approximately 1550 hrs on 07/05/06, a woman was preparing to enter her apartment building. A man came out of the building and grabbed her breast. When the victim pushed the suspect’s hand away, he went back inside the building. The suspect was described as a middle-eastern male, 6’ tall, 165 lbs.
ATTEMPTED RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, 7/5/2006, 1200 blk N. Wayne St., Between 0030 hrs and 0730 hrs on 07/05/06, someone attempted to pry open an apartment door, seriously damaging the door and a deadbolt lock.
ATTEMPTED CAPITAL MURDER / MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 7/5/2006, 3200 blk S. 13th St., At approximately 1728 hrs on 07/05/06, an SUV containing three ATF agents was traveling southbound on I-395 when it was side-swiped by a Ford Taurus. When both vehicles stopped in the area of the ramp for Glebe Rd., the driver of the Taurus opened fire on the ATF agents with a handgun. The agents returned fire and the man in the Taurus fled north on Glebe Rd., eventually stopping in the 3200 block of S. 13th St. The suspect burst into a home and shot one 26-year old male resident in the leg as he and a female resident fled the house. Arlington officers and ATF agents surrounded the home and attempted to contact the suspect. After a ten-and-a-half hour standoff, officers entered the home and found the suspect dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The suspect has since been identified as Travis Lamar Hampton, 24, of Washington, D.C.
ROBBERY BY FORCE, 7/5/2006, 4000 blk S. Four Mile Run Dr., At approximately 0116 hrs on 07/05/06, a man entered a gas station convenience store and demanded money from the clerk. The man took cash and fled. The suspect was described as a B/M with a shaved head, 35 years old, 5’9”, 180 lbs, last seen wearing a white t-shirt and shorts.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (SERIES), 7/4/2006, 1400 blk N. Oak St., Between 0000 and 0800 hrs on 07/04/06, someone sprayed 4 vehicles with a fine chalk-like dust, possibly using fire extinguishers from a nearby apartment building.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 7/3/2006, 1200 blk N. Fillmore St., Between 1700 hrs on 07/02/06 and 0800 hrs on 07/03/06, someone entered a store under construction by kicking in a rear door and took ceramic floor tiles.
ARSON, 7/2/2006, 400 blk N. Lincoln St., Sometime on 07/02/06, someone set fire to the center console of a convertible by unknown means, damaging the console, surrounding carpet, and passenger seat.
ARMED ROBBERY, 7/2/2006, 3100 blk S. 14th St., At approximately 0600 hrs on 07/02/06, the victim was talking to a recent acquaintance when the man produced a knife and demanded his money. The suspect took the victim’s cell phone and the victim then fled. The suspect is described as a W/H/M, 25 years old, 5’10” tall, 165 lbs, with a goatee, last seen wearing a blue shirt and blue shorts.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 7/2/2006, 2700 blk S. Lang St., At approximately 1410 hrs on 07/02/06, officers responded for a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a man suffering from stab wounds to the upper body. The victim was able to point out the man who stabbed him and officers quickly took the suspect into custody. A screwdriver, possibly the weapon used, was located on the suspect. Arrested was Ramon Pina AKA Santiago Oldovar, 50, of no fixed address. He was held without bond.
INDECENT LIBERTIES WITH A CHILD / INDECENT EXPOSURE, 7/1/2006, 3700 blk S. Four Mile Run Dr. / 3600 blk S. 27th St., At approximately 1300 hrs on 07/01/06, an adult male approached two teenage girls in a park, made inappropriate comments, and partially exposed himself. The same man then went to a nearby location and tried to get an 8-year old girl to remove her pants. Officers located the suspect in the area and he was positively identified by witnesses. Arrested was Angel Gonzalez, 25, of no fixed address. He was charged with taking indecent liberties with a child and two counts of indecent exposure and held without bond.
ARSON, 7/1/2006, 2100 blk S. Monroe St., At approximately 0400 hrs on 07/01/06, officers responded for a burglary in progress and discovered that a rear window made of Plexiglas had been burned until it melted down. Officers located a suspect nearby and took him into custody. Further investigation revealed narcotics violations. Arrested was Deontez Lamar Wright, 20, of no fixed address. He was charged with arson to an occupied building, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana and held without bond.
