EXPOSURE, 6/30/2007, 2800 block of N. Clarendon Blvd. At approximately 2300 hrs on 06/30/07, a man exposed himself to a woman who was sitting outside at a restaurant. The suspect was talking on a cell phone during the incident. He is described as a white male, about 6 feet 2 inches tall, with reddish-blonde hair.
INCENDIARY DEVICE, 6/30/2007, 4700 block of N. 25th St. At approximately 1920 hrs on 06/30/07, residents in a house heard a loud explosion from the street. Two young men who were seen standing near a small fire on the street fled on foot. The fire was put out by a neighborhood resident and it appears that the device was fashioned from a combination of fireworks and common household items. No injuries or property damage resulted from the explosion. Suspect #1 is described as a white male, 17 to 20 years old, last seen wearing a light green t-shirt and shorts. Suspect #2 is described as a white male, 17 to 20 years old, with light brown hair, last seen wearing a white t-shirt and shorts. The Office of the Fire Marshal will be investigating the incident.
BURGLARY, 6/30/2007, 4100 block of S. Four Mile Run Dr. Between 2030 hrs on 06/29/07 and 0700 hrs on 06/30/07, someone entered an apartment building under construction via an unsecured door and took a microwave oven.
BURGLARY, 6/30/2007, 2600 block of N. Pocomoke St. Between 2200 hrs on 06/29/07 and 2030 hrs on 06/30/07, someone entered a house undergoing renovation via an unsecured door and took power tools and a large amount of wood flooring.
FELONY HIT AND RUN, 6/29/2007, 300 block of N. Thomas St. At approximately 2130 hrs on 06/29/07, a tan Toyota Corolla traveling northbound in the 300 block of N. Thomas St. struck a 32-year-old man, flipping him over the hood of the car. The Corolla immediately fled the scene. The victim was transported to the hospital with minor injuries to the face, shoulder, and extremities.
BURGLARY, 6/29/2007, 1100 block of S. Hayes St. Between 1400 hrs on 06/27/07 and 1445 hrs on 06/29/07, someone entered the storage room of a business by damaging the lock on the door. It does not appear that anything was taken.
BURGLARY, 6/29/2007, 1200 block of N. Veitch St. Between 1130 hrs and 1300 hrs on 06/29/07, someone entered an apartment by prying open the door and took a laptop computer and an iPod.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 6/29/2007, 1000 block of S. Quebec St. At approximately 0100 hrs on 06/29/07, a witness saw a man trying to remove the screen from the bedroom window of an apartment. When the suspect saw the witness, he fled on foot. The screen was damaged but entry was not gained. The suspect is described as a black male, 25 to 28 years old, 5 ft. 8 in. tall, 140 lbs, with short black hair, wearing a white cutoff t-shirt and blue jeans.
BURGLARY, 6/27/2007, 5000 block of S. 23rd St. Between 06/17/07 and 1200 hrs on 06/27/07, someone entered a house by smashing a window pane on a rear door and took alcoholic beverages.
BURGLARY, 6/27/2007, 1500 block of S. Crystal Dr. Between 1645 hrs and 1705 hrs on 06/27/07, someone entered an office through an unlocked door and took two laptop computers and a cell phone. The laptop computers were recovered in a nearby stairwell.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (SERIES), 6/27/2007, various addresses in north Arlington. Between 1700 hrs on 06/26/07 and 0913 hrs on 06/27/07, someone smashed windows on seven vehicles. The vandalisms occurred in the 1000 block of N. Patrick Henry Dr., 1700 block of N. Utah St., 1800 block of N. Culpeper St., 2200 block of N. Kenmore St., 3300 block of N. George Mason Dr., and 3700-3800 blocks of N. Military Rd.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (SERIES), 6/26/2007, Various addresses in North Arlington. Between 1730 hrs on 06/25/07 and 0824 hrs on 06/26/07, someone smashed the rear windows and caused body damage on 8 vehicles. The vandalisms occurred in the 4900 block of N. 14th St., 1400 block of N. Harrison St., 1600 block of N. Patrick Henry Dr., 4500 block of N. 40th St., and the 1400 and 1500 blocks of N. Ohio St.
INPERSONATON OF A POLICE OFFICER, 6/26/2007, 1900 block of N. Moore St. At approximately 2340 hrs on 06/26/07, a 26 year old woman was driving when she noticed a vehicle behind her with a blue light on the dashboard. The victim says man in the other vehicle ordered her out of her car and frisked her. A woman also got out of the other vehicle and asked the victim for identification while the first suspect searched the victim’s car. The victim reports that cash was taken from her purse during the incident. The suspect’s vehicle is described as an older model, sky blue Ford sedan. The victim says both suspects wore black uniforms with long sleeve shirts and gold badges. The first suspect is described as a white male in his early 30’s, approximately 5’6” tall with red hair and a fair complexion. The other suspect was a black female in her late 30’s, 5’10” tall with black hair.
ATTEMPTED MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 6/25/2007, 2300 block of N. 10th St. At approximately 1849 hrs on 06/25/07, two men in an apartment got into an argument. One man punched the other and attacked him with a knife. Officers arrived and took the suspect into custody. The victim was transported to a local hospital with a minor laceration to the face. Nhut The Vuong, 48, of Arlington, was charged with Attempted Malicious Wounding and held without bond.
BURGLARY, 6/25/2007, 900 block of N. Monroe St. Between 0600 hrs and 1830 hrs on 06/25/07, someone entered an apartment by prying open the door and took cash and jewelry.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (SERIES), 6/25/2007, various addresses in north Arlington. Between 0730 hrs on 06/24/07 and 1100 hrs on 06/25/07, someone smashed windows and broke side mirrors on 29 vehicles. The vandalisms occurred in the 4200 block of N. 25th St., 4100 block of N. 26th Rd., 4200 block of N. 31st St., 500 block of N. Jackson St., 1000 block of N. Jefferson St., 2100 block of N. Kenmore St., 2000-2300 blocks of N. Kensington St., 5500 block of N. Fairfax Dr., and 1600-1800 blocks of N. Patrick Henry Dr.
FELONY HIT AND RUN, 6/24/2007, Columbia Pike/S. George Mason Dr. At approximately 2320 hrs on 06/24/07, a Ford Windstar was stopped at a red light on eastbound Columbia Pike preparing to turn left onto northbound S. George Mason Dr. A BMW 325 rear-ended the Windstar and immediately fled the scene. The driver of the Windstar was transported to a local hospital with back and neck pain. Officers located the BMW in the 1200 block of S. Taylor St. and the investigation is ongoing.
BURGLARY, 6/24/2007, 2200 block of S. Crystal Dr. Between 1915 hrs on 06/22/07 and 1330 hrs on 06/24/07, someone entered an office by unknown means and took a laptop computer.
LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 6/24/2007, 800 block of S. Army Navy Dr. Between 0945 hrs and 1905 hrs on 06/24/07, someone broke into five vehicles in a parking garage. Portable GPS systems were taken from four of the vehicles and a duffel bag containing various items was taken from the other.
ARMED ROBBERY, 6/23/2007, N. Glebe Rd./N. Randolph St. At approximately 0456 hrs on 06/23/07, officers responded for a report of an injured man. They found the victim who stated that an acquaintance had beaten him with a stick and taken his wallet. The victim was transported to a local hospital with lacerations to the head and arm. Charges are pending.
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY BY FORCE, 6/23/2007, 1400 block of S. Crystal Dr. At approximately 1425 hrs on 06/23/07, a man and a woman got into an argument in a hotel room. The man took the woman’s purse but she was able to take it back and went into the hallway calling for help. While the woman was in the hallway, the man damaged a camera, a video camera, and two cell phones belonging to the woman. He then forcibly pulled the woman back into the hotel room and physically assaulted her in an attempt to get her purse. When the woman’s yells drew witnesses the man fled the scene. The victim suffered minor injuries to the face, neck, and leg. The suspect is known to the victim and charges are pending.
BURGLARY, 6/23/2007, 5000 block of S. 8th Rd. Between 05/12/07 and 1400 hrs on 06/23/07, someone entered the basement of a house by unknown means and took a CD player, a floor fan, and other household goods.
BURGLARY (SERIES), 6/23/2007, 1500 block of Clarendon Blvd. Between 1200 hrs and 1530 hrs on 06/23/07, someone entered an apartment by prying open the door and took a laptop computer. Officers found six other apartment doors in the same building damaged in apparent attempts to gain entry. It is unknown if anything was taken from those apartments.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 6/23/2007, 900 block of N. Kenmore St. At approximately 0210 hrs on 06/23/07, someone tampered with a basement door at a house being renovated. It does not appear that anything was taken.
BURGLARY, 6/21/2007, 200 block of N. Thomas St. Between 06/19/07 and 06/21/07, someone entered an apartment, possibly through the window, and took various personal belongings.
BURGLARY, 6/21/2007, 400 block of N. Park Dr. Between 0900 hrs and 2230 hrs on 06/21/07, someone entered an apartment through an unsecured window and took clothing.
BURGLARY, 6/21/2007, 2200 block of N. Clarendon Blvd. Between 2045 and 2145 hrs on 06/21/07, someone gained entry to a store by unknown means and took money from the cash register.
EXPOSURE, 6/21/2007, 1600 block of N. Queen St. At approximately 2240 hrs on 06/21/07, a 24 year old woman was walking down the street when a man behind her yelled “stop.” When the victim turned around the suspect exposed himself. The victim reports a second suspect standing just off the street also exposed himself to her before she took off running.
ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY, 6/20/2007, 300 block of N. Thomas St. At approximately 2252 hrs on 06/20/07, police received a report of three men with guns knocking loudly on an apartment door. Officers arriving on scene observed a vehicle leaving the area and stopped the vehicle a short time later. Three men were taken into custody and three handguns were recovered nearby. Stephan Rogers, 20, of Dumfries; Jesse James Kearney III, 23, of Laurel, Maryland; and Kenya Preston Williams, 25, of Washington, D.C., were each charged with Attempted Robbery and held without bond.
ROBBERY BY FORCE, 6/19/2007, 6100 block of Wilson Blvd. At approximately 1750 hrs on 06/19/07, the victim was standing outside of an apartment building and was approached by a young man who asked for money. After the victim gave the suspect some money, he demanded more and the victim refused. The suspect then assaulted the victim and fled with the victim’s purse which contained cash and jewelry. The victim was transported to a local hospital with lacerations to the face and other injuries. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 17 years old, last seen wearing a white shirt, blue jeans, and dark tennis shoes.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 6/19/2007, 2200 block of N. Powhatan St. Between 0800 hrs on 06/08/07 and 1400 hrs on 06/19/07, someone damaged the rear door of a house in an apparent burglary attempt.
FELONY HIT AND RUN, 6/18/2007, 2800 block of S. Glebe Rd. At approximately 1446 hrs on 06/18/07, a Chevy pickup truck traveling northbound in the 2800 block of S. Glebe Rd. rear-ended a Toyota Camry which was stopped for traffic. The Camry was pushed forward into a Hyundai Accent which was in turn pushed forward into a Pontiac Grand Prix. The female driver of the pickup truck spoke briefly with the driver of the Camry then fled in the truck, striking another vehicle on the way out. A witness noted the tag number on the truck and the investigation is ongoing.
ROBBERY BY FORCE, 6/18/2007, 4800 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 0200 hrs on 06/18/07, a man walking in a parking lot was assaulted by two suspects who took his wallet and fled on bicycles. The victim sustained a facial injury. Suspect #1 is described as a white Hispanic male, 18 to 20 years old, 5 ft. 5 in. tall, 140 lbs (skinny), with long black hair, last seen wearing a black t-shirt. Suspect #2 is described as a white Hispanic male in his 20s, skinny, with black hair, last seen wearing a black shirt and white pants.
BURGLARY, 6/18/2007, 900 block of S. George Mason Dr. At approximately 0413 hrs on 06/18/07, someone entered a business by prying open a rear door. Police officers responded to the scene but did not locate any suspects. It does not appear that anything was taken.
BURGLARY, 6/18/2007, 3400 block of S. Glebe Rd. Between 1400 hrs on 06/15/07 and 0535 hrs on 06/18/07, someone entered an office trailer by unknown means and took a laptop computer and a printer.
BURGLARY, 6/18/2007, 300 block of N. George Mason Dr. Between 0130 hrs and 1000 hrs on 06/18/07, someone entered an apartment through an unlocked door and took a wallet and clothing.
BURGLARY, 6/18/2007, 400 block of N. Monroe St. Between 1200 hrs and 1420 hrs on 06/18/07, a man entered a house through an unlocked basement window and took jewelry. When the residents arrived home and entered a side door, the man ran out the front door and fled on foot. The suspect is described as a white male, between 5 ft. 10 in. and 6 ft. tall, medium build, with black hair, last seen wearing a blue dress shirt and dark-colored dress pants and carrying a thin briefcase.
BURGLARY, 6/17/2007, 5500 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 0244 hrs on 06/17/07, officers responded for a burglar alarm at a gas station convenience store and found two men at the scene. The two suspects fled on foot but were caught and taken into custody. 29-year-old Jose Lopez-Garcia and 33-year-old Sebastian Lorenzo, both of Arlington, were each charged with Burglary, Felony Destruction of Property, and Petit Larceny. Lopez-Garcia was held without bond and Lorenzo was held on $15,000 bond.
BURGLARY, 6/16/2007, 3600 block of S. Glebe Rd. Between 0040 hrs and 0200 hrs on 06/16/07, someone entered four apartments in a building under construction and took a television from each unit.
BURGLARY (SERIES), 6/16/2007, 1300 block of Wilson Blvd. During the day on 06/16/07, someone entered nine rooms in the same hotel by prying open the doors. A laptop computer was taken from one room and it is unknown at this time if anything was taken from the other rooms.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 6/16/2007, 4300 block of Fairfax Dr. Between 1730 hrs on 06/15/07 and 0930 hrs on 06/16/07, someone damaged the door to an office in an apparent attempt to gain entry.
HOMICIDE, 6/15/2007, 5100 block of S. 8th Rd. At approximately 2222 hrs on 06/15/07, officers responded for a report of a fight in an apartment. When officers arrived, they found a deceased adult male who had apparently been stabbed in the abdomen. It was learned that a roommate of the victim was a possible suspect. Officers searched the area and early the next morning a K-9 officer located the suspect under a bridge in the area of S. Four Mile Run Dr. and S. George Mason Dr. Raymundo Sosa, 36, of Arlington, was charged with 2nd Degree Murder and held without bond.
FELONY ASSAULT, 6/15/2007, 1400 block of S. Pollard St. At approximately 1658 hrs on 06/15/07, a man got into an argument with a pregnant 17-year-old girl known to him. The man physically assaulted the girl, including kicking her in the stomach, and fled on foot. A warrant was obtained for the suspect who later turned himself in to the police. Enes Marko Kimmel, 19, of no fixed address, was charged with Attempted Killing of a Fetus and held without bond.
BURGLARY, 6/15/2007, 4300 block of Fairfax Dr. Between 1830 hrs and 1930 hrs on 06/15/07, someone entered an office suite by unknown means and took two laptop computers and a portable DVD player.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 6/15/2007, 2500 block of N. Lexington St. At approximately 1200 hrs on 06/15/07, a resident in the basement of a home heard a noise and saw a person’s foot beginning to enter a basement window. The resident yelled and the burglar fled.
ABDUCTION, 6/14/2007, 4100 block of S. Four Mile Run Dr. At approximately 1445 hrs on 06/14/07, a 28-year-old woman was walking into a laundry room in the basement of an apartment building when she was grabbed by a man. The man held a fork to her neck and dragged her into a nearby hallway. He tried to pull her into a storage room but the woman managed to free herself and fled the building. She told some bystanders about the attack and they detained the suspect until police arrived. Guillermo Espinal, 42, of Alexandria, was charged with Abduction with Intent to Defile and held on $10,000 bond.
FELONY HIT AND RUN, 6/13/2007, Ramp from I-395 southbound at Glebe Road. Between 0830 and 0900 hrs on 06/13/07, a Toyota Corolla was stopped at a traffic light when it was struck from behind by a silver Honda SUV. The driver of the Toyota got out of his vehicle and asked the other driver to wait while he called police. The driver of the Honda then drove off. The investigation is ongoing.
SEXUAL BATTERY, 6/13/2007, 1500 block of N. Wilson Blvd. At approximately 1745 hrs on 06/13/07, a 23 year old woman was walking down the sidewalk when a man groped her. The suspect is described as a well dressed white male, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and 180 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 6/12/2007, 2700 block of S. Veitch St. At approximately 1738 hrs on 06/12/07, two women were at a pool when a man approached. The man took off all of his clothes and jumped in the pool. When one of the women called 911, the man got out of the pool, dressed, jumped over a fence, and fled on foot. Officers found the man nearby and took him into custody. Jose Janados, 19, of Arlington, was charged with Indecent Exposure and held on $1,000 bond.
BURGLARY, 6/11/2007, 800 block of S. 15th St. Between 0645 hrs and 1410 hrs on 06/11/07, someone entered an apartment by prying open the door and took a laptop computer and a camera.
PEEPING TOM, 6/11/2007, 2700 block of S. Glebe Rd. At approximately 0200 hrs on 06/11/07, the victim was in his apartment when he saw a man outside of the apartment step over a bush, crouch down outside his office window and peer inside. The victim called 911 and officers stopped the suspect nearby. Arnold Henry Webster, 43, of Arlington, was charged with Peeping into an Occupied Dwelling and received a $2,500 unsecured bond.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY (SERIES), 6/10/2007, 2200 block of Clarendon Blvd. Between 1030 hrs on 06/06/07 and 2200 hrs on 06/10/07, someone damaged two apartment doors on the same floor of an apartment building in apparent burglary attempts. Officers discovered ten additional apartment doors on the same floor with similar damage.
ARMED ROBBERY, 6/9/2007, 4000 block of Old Dominion Dr. At approximately 2245 hrs on 06/09/07, a man approached the clerk in a gas station convenience store and produced a gun. The man demanded money and the clerk complied. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the man fled on foot. The suspect is described as a dark-skinned black male, 17 to 21 years old, 5 ft. 5 in. tall, 160 lbs, wearing a black mask, a white t-shirt, blue jean shorts, and black tennis shoes.
ROBBERY BY FORCE, 6/9/2007, 1200 block of N. Quincy St. At approximately 2230 hrs on 06/09/07, a 15-year-old boy was walking when he was approached by three men. The men punched and kicked the boy, knocking him to the ground. After taking the boy’s shoes and cash, the men fled on foot. The suspects are described as white Hispanic males in their early 20s, wearing white t-shirts and dark jeans. Two of the suspects are thin and one has a larger build.
BURGLARY, 6/9/2007, 2500 block of N. Greenbrier St. A resident discovered at 1350 hrs on 06/09/07 that her home had been burglarized during the day. A book and a DVD had been stolen and a large amount of damage had been done to the interior of the house. A witness was found who had seen a woman leave the area of the house and throw items, including the stolen DVD, over a fence nearby. While officers were investigating the burglary, a call was received for a woman damaging property inside a home in the 2200 block of N. Lexington St. The suspect had fled by the time officers arrived but there was soon another call reporting a woman who had entered uninvited and walked through a house in the 2200 block of N. Kentucky St. Officers located the woman in the 5500 block of N. 24th St. and determined that she was responsible for all three incidents. Jacqueline Daryl Spaw, 19, of Arlington, was charged with Burglary, felony Destruction of Property, misdemeanor Destruction of Property, Trespassing, and Petit Larceny and held without bond.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 6/9/2007, 2300 block of S. Queen St. Between 1445 hrs and 2300 hrs on 06/09/07, someone damaged the front door of a house in an apparent burglary attempt.
ARMED ROBBERY, 6/8/2007, 3000 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 2317 hrs on 06/08/07, a man entered a hotel and approached the clerk. The man produced a handgun and demanded money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the man fled on foot. The suspect is described as a black male in his 40s, between 5 ft. 9 in. and 5 ft. 10 in. tall, 160 to 190 lbs, last seen wearing a black hat, white and black striped shirt, and dark pants.
ASSAULT AND BATTERY, 6/7/2007, 2600 block of Lee Hwy. At approximately 0120 hrs on 06/07/07, a woman who had recently arrived at her apartment heard a knock at the door. When she opened the door, a man came at her with a plastic bag. The woman was able to block the man’s attack and he fled on foot. The suspect is described as a black male, 20 to 30 years old, 5 ft. 10 in. to 6 ft. 2 in. tall, with a medium build.
ASSAULT AND BATTERY, 6/7/2007, 2700 block of S. Lang St. At approximately 1507 hrs on 06/07/07, a woman walking on a trail behind Gunston Middle School was grabbed from behind by a man. The man tried to put a plastic bag over the woman’s head but she pushed him away and ran up the path toward Oakridge Elementary School. The suspect then fled the other direction on the path. The suspect is described as a white Hispanic male in his 30s, 6 ft. tall, thin, with black hair, wearing a yellow t-shirt and blue jeans. The suspect also has a tattoo on his right forearm. The victim describes the tattoo as black letters outlined in red.
FELONY HIT AND RUN, 6/7/2007, ramp from I-395 southbound to Washington Blvd. At approximately 1020 hrs on 06/07/07, a Ford pickup truck southbound on I-395 merged onto the exit ramp to Washington Blvd at the last moment, sideswiping a Chevy Express van. The Ford truck fled the scene without stopping. The driver of the van observed the driver of the truck and copied down the license plate. The investigation is ongoing.
FELONY HIT AND RUN, 6/7/2007, intersection of N. Franklin St. and N. Edgewood St. At approximately 2215 hrs on 06/07/07, a bicyclist was eastbound on N. Franklin St. A green vehicle was southbound on N. Edgewood St. and disregarded the stop sign. The vehicle and the bicyclist collided in the intersection and vehicle fled the scene. The bicyclist was transported to a hospital with a shoulder injury.
BURGLARY (SERIES), 6/7/2007, 1200 block of S. Eads St. Between 0900 hrs and 2200 hrs on 06/07/07, someone broke into two apartments in the same building by prying open the doors. Jewelry was taken from one apartment and a laptop computer was taken from the other. Eight other apartment doors in the building were found to be damaged from apparent burglary attempts.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 6/6/2007, 2500 block of N. Florida St. Between 2230 hrs on 06/05/07 and 1100 hrs on 06/06/07, someone removed the screen from a bathroom window of a house in a possible attempt to gain entry.
BURGLARY, 6/6/2007, 5000 block of N. 25th St. Between 0900 hrs and 1115 hrs on 06/06/07, someone entered a house through an unlocked rear door and took an Ipod and a camera.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 6/6/2007, 1200 block of N. Kenilworth St. At approximately 0230 hrs on 06/06/07, a man got into an argument with a woman known to him and attacked her with a box cutter. The woman struggled with the man and was able to get away and call 911. Officers arrived on scene and took the man into custody. The victim was transported to the hospital and treated for lacerations to the hand and leg. Boanerges A. Romero, 32, of Arlington, was charged with Malicious Wounding and held without bond.
BURGLARY, 6/4/2007, 1900 block of N. Nicholas St. Between 1300 hrs and 1409 hrs on 06/04/07, someone entered a house by kicking in a rear door and took jewelry and cash.
BURGLARY, 6/4/2007, 1900 block of N. Nottingham St. Between 1900 hrs on 06/03/07 and 2023 hrs on 06/04/07, someone entered a house by kicking in a rear door and took a camera.
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY BY FORCE, 6/3/2007, 2300 block of N. Edison St. At approximately 0110 hrs on 06/03/07, two male victims were walking on the street. They were approached by four men who asked them for money. When the victims did not provide money, the men grabbed and hit the two victims. The victims were able to break away from the suspects and ran into a nearby convenience store. The suspects are described as four black males, ranging in height from 5 ft. 7 in. to 6 ft. 2 in. tall, wearing white t-shirts and blue jeans.
ASSAULT AND BATTERY, 6/3/2007, 1300 block of N. Pierce St. At approximately 0330 hrs on 06/03/07, a woman walking down the street was approached by a man. The man engaged her in conversation then grabbed her, knocking her to the ground. The victim screamed and broke away from the suspect. She ran into an apartment building and called 911. The victim suffered minor facial injuries. The suspect is described as a white Hispanic male, 5 ft. 8 in. tall, 160 lbs, wearing a white tank top and blue jeans.
BRANDISHING A FIREARM, 6/3/2007, 4200 block of N. Henderson Rd. At approximately 0246 hrs on 06/03/07, a tow truck driver was looking at an illegally parked vehicle when the owner of the vehicle confronted him. The suspect retrieved a handgun from the vehicle and pointed it at the tow truck driver who fled. The suspect then got into the vehicle and drove away. Officers later located the suspect nearby and took him into custody. Leon Lewis Nelson, Jr., 55, of Arlington, was charged with Brandishing a Firearm and Possession of Cocaine and held on $3,000 bond.
BURGLARY, 6/3/2007, unit block of N. Glebe Rd. Between midnight and 0430 hrs on 06/03/07, two men broke into a store through the roof and took merchandise.
FELONY HIT AND RUN, 6/2/2007, N. Courthouse Rd. and Arlington Blvd. At approximately 1247 hrs on 06/02/07, a Toyota Corolla preparing to merge onto westbound Rt. 50 from N. Courthouse Rd. stopped for traffic and was rear-ended by a silver 4-door car. The drivers of both vehicles spoke briefly then the driver of the silver car fled the scene. The driver of the Corolla complained of back pain. The suspect is described as a black male in his mid 30s, 6 ft. tall, 170 to 190 lbs, with black dreadlocks, wearing a blue plaid short-sleeve button-down shirt.
ARMED ROBBERY, 6/1/2007, 2700 block of S. Glebe Rd. At approximately 0451 hrs on 06/01/07, a man entered a gas station convenience store and produced a handgun. He took an undisclosed amount of money and a carton of cigarettes and left in a black vehicle. The suspect is described as a black male in his late 20s, 5 ft. 11 in. tall, medium build, last seen wearing a black baseball cap, black zippered sweatshirt with a hood, and black jean shorts.
ROBBERY BY FORCE, 5/31/2007, 400 block of N. Thomas St. At approximately 2125 hrs on 05/31/07, a man on a bicycle was approached by two unknown men. One of the men began hitting the victim in the face while the other took his bag which contained cash and a large amount of phone cards. The two suspects then fled on foot. The victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries to the face, head, and hand. Suspect #1 is described as a black male, 5 ft. 9 in. tall, 150 lbs, wearing a white t-shirt. Suspect #2 is described only as a black male.
BURGLARY, 5/30/2007, 2100 block of N. Jefferson St. Between 0830 hrs and 1400 hrs on 05/30/07, someone entered a home by kicking in a basement door and took jewelry and prescription medication.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (SERIES), 5/30/2007, 2200-2400 blks N. Harrison St., N. Illinois St., N. Inglewood St., N. Kentucky St., N. Lexington St. Between 0846 hrs on 05/28/07 and 0846 hrs on 05/30/07, someone painted similar graffiti on 8 traffic signs.
ARMED ROBBERY, 5/29/2007, 2300 block of S. 9th St. At approximately 1035 hrs on 05/29/07, a man broke through the glass on a secured door into a bank. The man produced a firearm and robbed the bank of an undisclosed amount of money. An officer spotted the man leaving the scene and initiated a vehicle pursuit that crossed into Washington, D.C. via the I-395 HOV lanes. As the suspect drove across the bridge, the officer saw him throw the firearm and some cash out of the window. Eventually the suspect crashed his car in D.C. and was apprehended by U.S. Capitol Police officers after a foot chase. FBI agents took custody of the 29-year-old male suspect and are now leading the investigation.
BURGLARY, 5/29/2007, 1000 block of N. Fillmore St. Between 1500 hrs on 05/25/07 and 0620 hrs on 05/29/07, someone broke into several offices on a construction site and took a large amount of tools and materials.
BURGLARY, 5/29/2007, 6300 block of N. 24th St. Between 0715 hrs and 1810 hrs on 05/29/07, someone entered a house by forcing a side door and took prescription medication.
FELONY HIT AND RUN, 5/28/2007, S. Carlin Springs Rd. and Arlington Blvd. At approximately 2037 hrs on 05/28/07, a Toyota T100 was traveling northbound in the left lane of S. Carlin Springs Rd. A blue Toyota truck came off the eastbound Rt. 50 off-ramp, ran a red light, and struck the T100 as it approached the Rt. 50 overpass. The truck immediately fled the scene. The driver of the T100 was transported to a local hospital with unspecified injuries.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 5/28/2007, 400 block of N. Park Dr. At approximately 2059 hrs on 05/28/07, a woman entered a laundry room in the basement of an apartment building. A man in the laundry room greeted the woman, then left. A moment later, the man tapped on the window to get the woman’s attention and she saw that he was exposing himself. The woman ran to an apartment and called 911. The suspect is described as a dark-skinned Hispanic male in his mid to late 30s, 5 ft. 10 in. tall, 180 lbs, last seen wearing a navy blue polo shirt.
BURGLARY, 5/28/2007, 2200 block of N. Glebe Rd. Between 2110 hrs and 2211 hrs on 05/28/07, someone entered a gas station by removing a panel from a large service bay door and took cash.
ATTEMPTED ABDUCTION, 5/28/2007, 1100 block of N. Vernon St. At approximately 0227 hrs on 05/28/07, a woman walking down the street heard someone running up behind her. She turned around and saw a man reaching a plastic bag toward her face. The woman screamed and pushed the man away and he fled on foot. The suspect is described as a black male, 30 to 35 years old, between 6 ft. and 6 ft. 2 in. tall, medium build, wearing dark clothing.
FELONY HIT AND RUN, 5/27/2007, 2500 block of S. Adams St. At approximately 0541 hrs on 05/27/07, two men got into an argument. One of the men got into a white Chrysler 300 and drove up onto the sidewalk striking the other man. The suspect in the Chrysler then drove away from the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to the head, chest and arm. The suspect parked the Chrysler at another location and returned to the accident scene where officers were interviewing a witness. The suspect attempted to prevent the witness from speaking with the police and was placed under arrest. Samhar G. Teclay, 21, of Arlington, was charged with felony Hit and Run and Obstruction of Justice and held on $20,000 bond.
ARMED ROBBERY, 5/26/2007, 700 block of S. Dinwiddie St. At approximately 2300 hrs on 05/26/07, a male victim walking down the street was approached by two men. One of the men displayed a box cutter and they both pushed the victim to the ground after taking his cell phone and items from his wallet. Suspect #1 (with the box cutter) is described as a young black male, 5 ft. 7 in. tall, wearing black clothing. Suspect #2 is described as a young white Hispanic male, 5 ft. 6 in. tall, wearing a t-shirt and brown shorts.
FELONY HIT AND RUN, 5/26/2007, 1500 block of S. George Mason Dr. At approximately 0745 hrs on 05/26/07, an Acura was traveling northbound on S. George Mason Dr. A Toyota Corolla traveling southbound turned left and collided with the Acura. The driver of the Acura was injured and the driver of the Corolla fled on foot. The suspect is described as a white Hispanic male, 5 ft. 6 in. tall, 175 lbs, medium build, with short black hair, last seen wearing a red shirt and dark shorts. The Corolla was left at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
BURGLARY, 5/26/2007, 2600 block of S. Jefferson Davis Hwy. Between 1100 hrs and 2000 hrs on 05/26/07, someone entered a hotel room by forcing the door and took a laptop.
BURGLARY, 5/26/2007, 6900 block of N. Fairfax Dr. At approximately 2350 hrs on 05/26/07, it was reported that two men were tampering with a vehicle parked in front of an auto service shop. Officers arrived and discovered that the suspects had also broken a glass panel on a garage bay door and entered the service shop. The two suspects were stopped nearby and found to be in possession of items taken from the service shop. Chris Aaron Johnson, 18, of Falls Church, was charged with Burglary, Attempted Grand Larceny, and Petit Larceny and held on $15,000 bond. Forrest Raney Tanner, 18, of Annandale, was charged with Burglary and Attempted Grand Larceny and held on $10,000 bond.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 5/25/2007, 700 block of S. Courthouse Rd. At approximately 1115 hrs on 05/25/07, a man followed a woman into an apartment building and exposed himself to her. The woman went to the management office for help and the man left the building.
BURGLARY, 5/25/2007, 1600 block of Clarendon Blvd. Between 1345 hrs on 05/24/07 and 0545 hrs on 05/25/07, someone entered a construction site and took power tools.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 5/25/2007, 1700 block of Wilson Blvd. Between 2100 hrs on 05/24/07 and 0800 hrs on 05/25/07, someone damaged a large vent in the rear of a business in an apparent attempt to gain entry.
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY BY FORCE, 5/24/2007, 5000 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 1741 hrs on 05/24/07, the male victim had just parked one of his vehicles in a commercial parking lot when he was approached by a man who asked for money. The victim did not give the man any money. As the victim moved another vehicle a short distance, the suspect followed on foot. The victim parked again and the suspect stood outside of his vehicle and again demanded money. When the victim refused a second time, the suspect began throwing punches at him, breaking his vehicle’s turn-signal lever in the process. Officers responded to the scene and arrested the suspect. Selvi Yiovani Rivera, 37, of no fixed address, was charged with Attempted Robbery and Destruction of Property and held without bond.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 5/24/2007, 4100 block of N. 34th Rd. Between 1900 hrs on 05/20/07 and 1243 hrs on 05/24/07, someone damaged a rear door in an apparent attempt to gain entry.
BRANDISHING A FIREARM, 5/23/2007, 2400 block of S. Lincoln St. At approximately 2045 hrs on 05/23/07, a male victim returning to his parked vehicle on a residential street was confronted by a man who was unhappy that the victim had parked there. After a verbal dispute, the suspect retrieved a handgun from a nearby parked car and pointed it at the victim. Police were called to the scene and arrested Larry Andre Hawthorne, 49, of Arlington. Hawthorne was charged with Brandishing a Firearm (a felony due to the proximity of the crime to a school zone) and released on a $2,500 unsecured bond.
FELONY HIT AND RUN, 5/23/2007, 200 block of N. Glebe Rd. At approximately 1607 hrs on 05/23/07, a Geo Prizm southbound on N. Glebe Rd. stopped for traffic and was rear-ended by a red Ford F-150 pickup truck which immediately fled the scene. The driver of the Prizm was transported to a local hospital with unspecified injuries. Officers located the F-150 in the 1600 block of N. Oak St. with the driver passed out behind the wheel. Brian Thomas McCabe, 42, of Arlington, was charged with felony Hit and Run, Driving While Intoxicated, and Refusal to Submit to a Breath Test and released on $10,000 bond.

ROBBERY, 5/19/2007, 800 block of S. Dinwiddie St. Between 0530 and 0747 hrs on 05/19/07, a 49 year old man was waiting at a bus stop when two men walked past. The victim says the suspects then turned around, ran at him, punched him and pushed him to the ground. They took the victim’s wallet and cell phone and then fled on foot. One suspect is described as a black male, light skinned or Indian, 18 or 19 years old, 5 foot 6 inches tall, 170 lbs. with short hair. He was wearing all black clothing and black shoes. The second suspect is a black male, 16 or 17 years old, 5 ft. 4 inches to 5 ft. 6 inches tall and 170 lbs. He was also wearing all black clothing except for construction type boots and he used something black to cover his face.
ATTEMPTED BREAKING & ENTERING, 5/18/2007, 900 block of S. Utah St. Between 1300 hrs on 05/16/07 and 1902 hrs on 05/18/07, someone tried to gain access to a residence through a rear basement door.
SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT, 5/18/2007, 2800 block of N. Harrison St. At approximately 1730 hrs on 05/18/07, a 14 year old female juvenile was walking home from a friend’s house when she was approached by a man in a car. The victim says the man asked her if she wanted a ride. When the girl walked up to another friend’s home nearby the man drove away. He’s described as a Hispanic male in his late 20’s or early 30’s, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall with a medium build and short, black spiked hair. He was wearing sunglasses, a black leather jacket and dark jeans. The vehicle is described as a metallic green four door sedan with a tan interior.
BRANDISHING A FIREARM, 5/18/2007, 2000 block of Jefferson Davis Highway. At approximately 0915 hrs on 05/18/07, a woman says she was driving north when another motorist pulled up next to her, shouted obscenities at her and then pointed a gun at her. The suspect then exited onto I-395. The suspect’s vehicle is described as a black Mitsubishi Eclipse with very dark tinted windows.
BURGLARY, 5/17/2007, 800 block of S. Walter Reed Dr. Between 0630 hrs on 05/16/07 and 0630 hrs on 05/17/07, someone entered an apartment by unknown means and took makeup and other personal items.
FELONY HIT AND RUN, 5/17/2007, Rt. 110 southbound at I-395. At approximately 1240 hrs on 05/17/07, a Toyota Celica was traveling southbound in the right lane of Rt. 110. A blue sedan, possibly a Chrysler 300, moved from the center lane into the right lane and clipped the Celica. The driver of the Celica lost control and struck the jersey wall and the blue sedan continued on without stopping. The driver of the Celica, a 49-year-old male, was transported to a local hospital with unspecified injuries.
BURGLARY, 5/17/2007, 1900 block of N. Lynn St. Between 1400 hrs on 05/16/07 and 0620 hrs on 05/17/07, someone entered a construction site and broke into several locked boxes. Taken were numerous tools and a large number of stainless steel components.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 5/17/2007, 1500 block of Clarendon Blvd. At approximately 0015 hrs on 05/17/07, someone removed a screen from the bedroom window of an apartment and reached inside the window. A resident screamed and the suspect left.
FELONY HIT AND RUN, 5/16/2007, ramp from Washington Blvd. to northbound I-395 At approximately 0730 hrs on 05/16/07, a Chevy truck was driving on the ramp from Washington Blvd to northbound I-395. A red Ford Focus driving in the lane next to the truck tried to merge over and sideswiped the truck. The Focus left the scene. The victim saw the tag number on the Focus and the investigation is ongoing.
FELONY HIT AND RUN, 5/16/2007, 1200 block of S. Fern St. At approximately 1030 hrs on 05/16/07, a 34-year-old woman was pushing a shopping cart through a parking lot. A gold Ford Taurus backed out of a parking spot into the woman and the cart and then fled the scene. The victim suffered a minor leg injury. The driver of the Taurus is described as a white male in his 60s with grey hair.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 5/16/2007, 600 block of N. Monroe St. At approximately 2216 hrs on 05/16/07, a woman walking outside of an apartment building was approached by a man who exposed himself. The woman ran into the apartment building and the man fled on foot. The suspect is described as white Hispanic male in his 20s, 5 ft. 6 in. tall, chubby, wearing a white baseball cap with a blue rim, a white polo shirt, and white shorts.
BURGLARY, 5/16/2007, 1100 block of S. Hayes St. Between 2130 hrs on 05/15/07 and 1025 hrs on 05/16/07, someone entered the storage unit of a business by breaking the padlock on the door and took several handbags and wallets.
BURGLARY, 5/16/2007, 3000 block of S. Grant St. Between 0715 hrs and 1630 hrs on 05/16/07, someone kicked in the side door of a house. It does not appear that anything was taken.
ROBBERY BY FORCE, 5/15/2007, 4900 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 2220 hrs on 05/15/07, a man standing in the parking lot of a convenience store was approached by another man. The suspect pushed the victim and took his hat and two shopping bags containing beer. Officers located the suspect at a nearby bus stop. Paolo Montero, 29, address unknown, was charged with Robbery and held without bond.
FELONY HIT AND RUN, 5/15/2007, 2100 block of Lee Hwy. At approximately 0914 hrs on 05/15/07, a Lexus GS300 was traveling eastbound in the right lane of Lee Hwy. A grey dump truck was in the middle lane next to the Lexus. As the vehicles approached N. Veitch St., the dump truck moved partially into the right lane, sideswiping the Lexus, and continued on without stopping.
ROBBERY BY FORCE, 5/14/2007, 900 block of S. Buchanan St. At approximately 2330 hrs on 05/14/07, a man walking down the street was attacked by three men of unknown race. The victim was punched and hit with a bat and fell to the ground. The suspects took the victim’s wallet and fled on foot. Suspect #1 is described as male, 5 ft. 8 in. tall, skinny, wearing a fitted grey baseball cap, a black short-sleeve t-shirt, and grey pants. Suspect #2, who wielded the bat, is described as male, approximately 5 ft. 6 in. tall, medium build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with gold lettering on the hood. Suspect #3 is described as male, 6 ft. 2 in. tall, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and shorts.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 5/14/2007, 2100 block of Wilson Blvd. At approximately 1735 hrs on 05/14/07, a woman walking through a parking lot saw a man sitting in a parked green Toyota van exposing himself. The suspect is described as a light-skinned male in his 30s with dark hair.
BURGLARY, 5/14/2007, 4100 block of S. Four Mile Run Dr. Between 05/11/07 and 0755 hrs on 05/14/07, someone entered a construction site and took a large amount of copper wire.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 5/13/2007, 900 block of S. Columbus St. At approximately 0430 hrs on 05/13/07, a man walking down the street was approached by a stranger who asked him for money. The man declined to give the stranger any money and continued walking. A short time later, the stranger returned with three other men and hit the man in the face repeatedly. The victim was treated at a local hospital for lacerations to the face and head. The suspect is described as a white Hispanic male in his 20s, wearing a dark shirt, and dark striped pants.
ROBBERY BY FORCE, 5/12/2007, 2200 block of Wilson Blvd. At approximately 0208 hrs on 05/12/07, witnesses observed several men standing around a man on the ground. One of the men kicked the man on the ground and another man took cash and ID cards from the man’s wallet. The suspects then left on foot. The victim was treated at the scene for a laceration to the head.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING/DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY, 5/12/2007, 5700 block of N. 10th Rd. At approximately 0345 hrs on 05/12/07, a man was sleeping in a friend’s apartment. Another resident of the apartment attacked the man with a knife. The victim jumped out of a window and discovered that his vehicle had all four tires slashed. In spite of the damaged tires, the victim was able to drive to a local hospital where he was treated for lacerations to the hand and leg and other minor injuries. A warrant charging Malicious Wounding is on file for 24-year-old Jeremiah James Grant.
BURGLARY/DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY, 5/12/2007, 6500 block of N. 26th St. At approximately 2330 hrs on 05/12/07 a burglar alarm was activated at a school. Officers responded and found items outside damaged including several broken flower pots and a broken window. It appears that the school was entered but no suspects were located. It is not known at this time if anything was taken.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (SERIES), 5/12/2007, 6000-6200 blocks of N. 28th St. Between 2000 hrs on 05/11/07 and 0630 hrs on 05/12/07, someone damaged the driver-side mirrors on four parked vehicles. The driver-side mirrors on another five vehicles in the area were tampered with but not damaged.
BURGLARY, 5/11/2007, 2300 block of S. Shirlington Rd. Between 1600 hrs and 1630 hrs on 05/11/07, someone entered a shed attached to a house by forcing the door and took numerous items including tires, snow shovels, power tools, and a lawnmower.
BURGLARY, 5/11/2007, 800 block of N. Quincy St. Between 1430 hrs on 05/10/07 and 0745 hrs on 05/11/07, someone entered a construction site and took a large amount of copper piping.
ATTEMPTED ABDUCTION, 5/10/2007, 4000 block of Washington Blvd. At approximately 0238 hrs on 05/10/07, a woman walking down the street heard someone running up behind her. Before she could turn around, a man tried to put a plastic bag over her head. The woman screamed, pushed the bag away and fought against the attacker who immediately fled on foot. The suspect is described as a black male, between 5 ft. 10 in. and 6 ft. tall, thin, wearing dark clothing.
BURGLARY (SERIES), 5/9/2007, 1300 block of N. Veitch St. Between 0700 hrs and 1945 hrs on 05/09/07, someone entered two apartments on the same floor of a building by prying open the doors. Two laptop computers and a camera were taken.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 5/9/2007, 3000 block of Washington Blvd. Between 0800 hrs and 2000 hrs on 05/09/07, someone damaged an apartment door in an apparent burglary attempt. It does not appear that the suspect was able to get inside.
BREAKING AND ENTERING, 5/8/2007, 2000 block of N. Kensington St. Between 0900 and 1530 hrs on 05/08/07 someone entered a residence through an unlocked door and rummaged through the home. It is not known at this time what items were taken.
ARMED ROBBERY, 5/8/2007, 2600 block of Columbia Pike At approximately 11:26 hrs on 05/08/07, a man armed with a gun robbed a pharmacy. The suspect walked up to the front counter, pointed the weapon at a cashier and demanded money. He then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect is described as a black male in his thirties, approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall and 180 lbs., with a thin to average build. He was wearing a yellow safety vest, a yellow hard hat and dark wrap-around sunglasses.
BURGLARY, 5/7/2007, 2400 block of S. Inge St. Between 0730 and 2000 hrs on 050707, someone forced open a kitchen door to a residence and took 2 laptop computers and jewelry.
LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 5/6/2007, 4500 block of S. Four Mile Run Dr. At approximately 0311 hrs on 05/06/07, officers responded for a report of a vehicle being broken into and apprehended three suspects. The investigation revealed that the three men had broken into several vehicles to steal stereos. The three suspects, all residents of Falls Church, are 28-year-old Guillermo Mendez-Martinez, 21-year-old Jose Luis Ramirez, and 19-year-old Edwin Aniwan Vasquez. Each suspect was charged with Attempted Grand Larceny, Receiving Stolen Property, and Destruction of Property and held on $7,500 bond.
FELONY HIT AND RUN, 5/5/2007, 5200 block of S. 7th Rd. At approximately 2142 hrs on 05/05/07, a Plymouth van traveling eastbound on S. 7th Rd. collided with an Oldsmobile sedan which was northbound on S. Florida St. The female driver of the van parked near the accident scene and left on foot. The driver of the Oldsmobile was transported to a local hospital with lacerations to the head. Officers located the suspect in a nearby backyard. Kathryn Melinda Sprouse, 36, of no fixed address, was charged with Felony Hit and Run, Driving While Intoxicated, and Driving on a Suspended License. Sprouse, who also had warrants in Alexandria and Fairfax County for probation violations, was held without bond.
SEXUAL ASSAULT, 5/4/2007, 3600 block of Columbia Pike At approximately 1356 hrs on 05/04/07, a woman inside of a restaurant heard her 3-year-old daughter scream and found her partially clothed in a restroom. The little girl told her mother she had just been assaulted by a man who was standing nearby. Witnesses at the scene detained the suspect until police officers arrived to investigate the incident. Pedro Pablo Marquez, 52, of no fixed address, was charged with Abduction with Intent to Defile, Forcible Sodomy, and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender and held without bond.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 5/4/2007, 2000 block of N. 15th St. At approximately 1353 hrs on 05/04/07, an officer observed a man walking down the street wearing only a shirt. William A. Kearney, 56, of Arlington, was arrested and released on a summons for Indecent Exposure. The suspect was given pants to wear before he was released.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 5/3/2007, 1000 block of N. Quincy St. At approximately 1303 hrs on 05/03/07, a woman was looking for a book in a library when a man standing near her exposed himself. The woman confronted the man about his behavior and he fled the building. The suspect is described as a black male, 5 ft. 11 in. tall, 160 lbs, with short black hair, wearing an olive-colored button-down shirt and khaki pants.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 5/3/2007, 2500 block of N. Ohio St. At approximately 1720 hrs on 05/03/07, a man in a tan SUV pulled up next to a woman walking down the street. The man asked for directions and then exposed himself to the woman. When the victim yelled at the suspect, he drove away. He is described as a black male in his 30s, wearing a hat.
DISCHARGING A FIREARM, 5/2/2007, 2400 block of S. Lowell St. At approximately 0756 hrs on 05/02/07, several gun shots were heard in a residential neighborhood. Officers searched the area and located shell casings in the backyard of a residence. Witnesses reported that two men had entered the backyard right before the shots were heard. Suspect #1 is described as a black male, 15 to 25 years old, with a mustache, wearing a tan shirt with white stripes, baggy blue jeans, and a baseball cap. Suspect #2 is described as a black male, 15 to 25 years old, wearing a baseball cap.
FELONY HIT AND RUN, 5/2/2007, 3300 block of Jefferson Davis Hwy. At approximately 0905 hrs on 05/02/07, a man on a Suzuki motorcycle was turning left from southbound Jefferson Davis Hwy onto eastbound S. 33rd St. A black or blue 4-door sedan northbound on Jefferson Davis Hwy struck the motorcycle and fled the scene. The motorcyclist was treated at the scene for lacerations to the hands. The suspect is described as an unknown race female with long black hair.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (SERIES), 5/2/2007, 1500 & 2000 blocks of Wilson Blvd/1500 and 1600 blocks of N. 16th St./1700 block of N. Ft. Myer. Between 1700 hrs on 05/01/07 and 0935 hrs on 05/02/07, someone broke out windows and dented doors on five parked vehicles.
BURGLARY, 4/30/2007, 6400 block of N. Williamsburg Blvd. Between 2300 and 2304 hrs on 04/30/07, someone gained entry to a business by breaking out the glass in the front door and took money from the cash registers.
BURGLARY, 4/30/2007, 1100 block of N. Glebe Rd. Between 0700 and 1945 hrs on 04/30/07, someone forced open the door to an apartment and took jewelry and a jewelry box.
BURGLARY, 4/30/2007, 4300 block of N. Henderson Rd. Between 0130 and 0140 hrs on 04/30/07, a 28 year old woman awoke to find a man climbing in her bedroom window. The victim screamed and the suspect fled. Officers responded and stopped a suspect matching the description provided by the victim. Edilberto Perez, 27, of Arlington, was arrested and charged with Burglary.
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY/DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY , 4/29/2007, 900 block of S. Buchanan St. At approximately 0124 hrs on 04/29/07, a man was walking to his vehicle when two men came out from behind a dumpster and demanded money. When the victim said he didn’t have any money, the suspects threw two rocks through the passenger side windows of the victim’s vehicle. The suspects then walked away.
HIT AND RUN, 4/28/2007, 5000 block of Lee Highway, 1900 and 2300 blocks of N. Culpepper St. Between 0210 and 0219 hrs on 04/28/07, an 1994 Oldsmobile sedan pulled out of a restaurant parking lot onto Lee Highway and struck a vehicle traveling eastbound. The Oldsmobile then fled Northbound on Culpepper Street where it struck a car parked in a gravel driveway. The Oldsmobile then backed into another parked vehicle. Moments later the Oldsmobile struck yet another parked car, pushing it down a hill into the yard of a home in the 1900 block of Culpepper St. At that point, the driver of the Oldsmobile got out and fled on foot. However, he later turned himself in at the police station. 22 year old Kevin Bryant Whitehead of Arlington was charged with four counts of Hit and Run and held on $3,000 bond.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (SERIES), 4/28/2007, 4100 and 4200 blocks of N. 25th St. and 2300 block of N. Stafford St. Between 2300 hrs on 04/27/07 and 0630 hrs on 04/28/07, someone slashed the tires on 7 vehicles.
ATTEMPTED BREAKING AND ENTERING, 4/28/2007, 800 block of N. Glebe Rd. Sometime before 0941 hrs on 04/28/07, someone tried to pry open the doors to 31 guest rooms at a hotel. It does not appear the suspect gained entry to any of the rooms.
ROBBERY, 4/28/2007, 4800 block of S. Columbia Pike. At approximately 2336 hrs on 04/28/07, a 34 year old man was approached by three young men. One of the suspects sprayed something in the victim’s face that caused his eyes to burn. The suspects then took the victim’s cell phone and cash from his right front pocket and fled on foot. The victim was not able to provide a detailed description of the suspects.
MISSILE INTO OCCUPIED DWELLING, 4/28/2007, 300 block of N. George Mason Dr. At approximately 2259 hrs on 04/28/07, a man was standing in his kitchen when someone threw two bottles through the front window of the apartment. The victim had to jump out of the way to avoid flying glass but he was not injured. Two neighbors, Mario Sical-Jeronimo, 38, and Carolos Sical-Jeronimo, 20, were arrested and charged with throwing a missile into an occupied dwelling.
ATTEMPTED BREAKING AND ENTERING, 4/27/2007, 4500 block of N. Pershing Dr. Between 1900 hrs on 04/26/07 and 0930 hrs on 04/27/07, someone tampered with a window and basement door to a church. It does not appear anything was taken.
BURGLARY, 4/27/2007, 6000 block of N. 19th Road. Between 0800 and 1900 hrs on 04/27/07, someone forced open the rear door to a residence and took a guitar and cash.
BURGLARY, 4/26/2007, 3200 block of S. 7th St. Between 1300 hrs and 1630 hrs on 04/26/07, someone entered a house through a bathroom window and took two laptop computers, several firearms, ammunition, jewelry, and cash.
RECOVERED STOLEN AUTOS, 4/26/2007, 2800 block of S. Glebe Rd. At approximately 0142 hrs on 04/26/07, officers responded for a report of a vehicle theft in progress. The vehicle was located and stopped in the 2600 block of S. Four Mile Run Dr. Three male juveniles inside the stolen vehicle were taken into custody. Two additional male juveniles got out of the vehicle and fled on foot but were eventually apprehended in the area. It was discovered that the five juveniles arrived at the location where they stole the vehicle in another vehicle they had stolen earlier. Three of the suspects (17, 14, and 13 years of age) are from Washington, D.C. and the other two (17 and 16 years of age) are from New Carrollton, Maryland. The suspects face a variety of charges including two counts of Grand Larceny, Receiving Stolen Property, Conspiracy to Commit Grand Larceny, Destruction of Property, and Possession of Burglarious Tools.
LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 4/26/2007, 2700 block of S. Veitch St. At approximately 0300 hrs on 04/26/07, officers were searching for a suspect who fled from a stolen vehicle. An officer stopped a group of four young men in the area and discovered that they had just broken into three vehicles in a parking garage and taken a satellite radio receiver from one. Eder Marlow Santos, 19, of Woodbridge, was charged with two counts of Tampering with Auto, Grand Larceny, and two counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor and held on $7,500 bond. Lender Fario Alcantara, 18, of Arlington, was charged with two counts of Tampering with Auto, Petit Larceny, Possession of Burglarious Tools, and two counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor and held without bond. The other suspects were a 17-year-old from Arlington and a 17-year-old from Woodbridge.
FELONY HIT AND RUN, 4/25/2007, 4100 block of Columbia Pike At approximately 1658 hrs on 04/25/07, a Subaru Impreza was traveling eastbound in the left lane of Columbia Pike. The Impreza rear-ended a Toyota Camry which was stopped for traffic, pushing the Camry forward into a Porsche Cayenne. The Impreza then fled the scene. Officers located the Impreza unoccupied less than a block away and the investigation is ongoing.
BURGLARY, 4/25/2007, 6000 block of N. 22nd St. Between 0945 hrs and 1604 hrs on 04/25/07, someone entered a house by kicking in a rear basement door and took a camera and jewelry.
BURGLARY, 4/25/2007, 6100 block of Wilson Blvd. Between 0730 hrs and 1520 hrs on 04/25/07, someone entered an apartment by forcing the door and took several items including two video game systems, a computer, and a camcorder.
ARMED ROBBERY, 4/23/2007, 2300 block of S. Eads St. At approximately 0045 hrs on 04/24/07, a man was robbed at gunpoint while showing merchandise to a potential customer. The victim says he arranged to meet the suspect in Arlington after the suspect indicated he was interested in buying some clothes. But instead, the suspect drew a weapon and took cash and clothing.
AGGRAVATED SEXUAL BATTERY, 4/23/2007, 1300 block of Quincy Street At approximately 1749 hrs on 04/23/07, an 11 year old girl, who attends a different school, was dropped off at her bus stop at Randolph Elementary School. A custodian let the girl inside the school to use a telephone then inappropriately touched her. 48 year old Darrell Beckham of Camp Springs, MD, was charged with Aggravated Sexual Battery and held without bond.
FELONY HIT AND RUN, 4/22/2007, 1900 block of Jefferson Davis Hwy. At approximately 0405 hrs on 04/22/07, a Honda Accord traveling southbound on Jefferson Davis Hwy got into the left turn lane for S. 20th St. and stopped for a red light. A large blue or black pickup truck with a chrome grill rear-ended the Accord and fled the scene. No injuries were reported.
LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 4/22/2007, 2600 blk S. Walter Reed Dr./5000 blk S. 22nd St./4600 blk S. 28th Rd. At approximately 0239 hrs on 04/22/07, three young men were seen tampering with a vehicle. A K-9 officer tracked to the 2800 block of S. Abingdon St. where officers took two adult males and one juvenile male into custody. An investigation revealed that at least three vehicles were entered. Items taken from the vehicles included a box of cigars, credit cards, and a change purse containing cash. One of the adults was released without charges. Redate Tamray Kebede, 18, of Alexandria, was charged with Possession of Stolen Credit Cards, two counts of Larceny from Auto, Unlawful Entry, and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor and held on $4,000 bond. The 17-year-old Alexandria youth was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center with petitions pending for Credit Card Theft and Larceny from Auto.
BREAKING & ENTERING/DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY, 4/21/2007, 1300 block of N. Troy St. Between 1400 hrs on 04/20/07 and 1115 hrs on 04/21/07, someone attempted to break into two offices on a construction site, and damaged the door to a bathroom.
ROBBERY BY FORCE, 4/21/2007, 4000 block of N. Washington Blvd. At approximately 0349 hrs on 04/21/07, a passenger in a taxi cab reached into the front seat, grabbed the driver and took cash from his shirt pocket. The man got out of the cab and tried to get at the driver but could not open the driver’s door. He then fled on foot. Officers located a suspect in the area and the investigation is ongoing. No charges have been filed at this time.
ATTEMPTED ABDUCTION/ROBBERY BY FORCE, 4/21/2007, 3800 block of Columbia Pike. Just after midnight on 04/21/07, a woman entering an apartment building was confronted by a man known to her. The woman refused to go with the man and tried to call for help but the man took her cell phone. He attempted to pull her into a vehicle but a witness helped the woman get away. The suspect then left in a vehicle with the woman’s phone. Charges have not yet been filed.
BURGLARY, 4/19/2007, 1100 block of S. Hayes St. Between the morning of 04/18/07 and 0630 hrs on 04/19/07, someone broke into the storage room of a retail store and took clothing.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (SERIES), 4/19/2007, 300 block of N. Irving St./3200 block of Arlington Blvd./800 block of S. Wayne St. Between 2100 hrs and 2349 hrs on 04/19/07, someone apparently used a BB gun to damage windows on a house, a Metro bus stop, and a vehicle.
BANK ROBBERY, 4/18/2007, 3500 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 1200 hrs on 04/18/07, a woman walked into a bank and handed a note to a teller demanding money. The woman received an undisclosed amount of cash and left the bank. Officers set up a perimeter but were unable to locate the woman. The suspect is described as a dark-skinned black female, late 20s to early 30s, 5 ft. 3 in. to 5 ft. 5 in. tall, 140 lbs, wearing a black leather hat, glasses, a black leather jacket, and a dark shirt.
FELONY HIT AND RUN, 4/18/2007, 1000 block of Arlington Blvd. At approximately 2053 hrs on 04/18/07, a Honda Civic was traveling westbound in the right lane of Arlington Blvd. (Rt. 50). A black 4-door sedan in the left lane swerved over two lanes and sideswiped the Civic. The sedan fled the scene. No injuries were reported.
BURGLARY, 4/18/2007, 200 block of N. Barton St. At approximately 1156 hrs on 04/18/07, a woman was seen entering a house through an unsecured front window. Witnesses called the police as she took a suitcase full of clothing and other items out of the home. Officers arrived and took the woman into custody. Solongo Boldbaatar, 19, of Arlington, was charged with Burglary and released on her own recognizance.
BURGLARY, 4/16/2007, 2600 blk of S. Walter Reed Drive. Between 1130 and 1720 hrs on 04/16/07, someone entered a residence and took two electronic devices.
ATTEMPTED ABDUCTION, 4/16/2007, 1400 blk of N. Nash St. At approximately 2330 hrs on 04/16/07, a 35 year old woman was walking from the Rosslyn Metro Station to her parked car when a man came up behind her. The suspect put a plastic bag over the victim’s face and attempted to pull her backwards. The victim turned around, screamed and struck the suspect with her handbag. The man then fled on foot. He is described as 6 feet tall, approximately 220 lbs, with short, curly black hair. He was wearing blue jeans, white sneakers and a black zip-up jacket with white writing on the back.
ROBBERY BY FORCE, 4/16/2007, 2800 block of S. Wakefield St. At approximately 0045 hrs on 04/16/07, a couple entered a convenience store. While the woman distracted the clerk at the counter, the man took two 12-packs of beer and fled the store. The clerk and another employee attempted to prevent the woman from leaving but the man returned to the store and assaulted them. Both suspects then fled in a large white vehicle. Suspect #1 is described as a white Hispanic male, 20 to 25 years old, 5 ft. 6 in. tall, 150 lbs, with short black hair, wearing a white sweater and jeans. Suspect #2 is described as a white Hispanic female, 20 to 23 years old, 5 ft. 6 in. tall, 130 lbs.
ROBBERY BY FORCE, 4/15/2007, 400 block of N. Thomas St. At approximately 2150 hrs on 04/15/07, a woman walking down the street was pushed from behind by a man and fell to the ground. The man took the woman’s purse and fled on foot. The suspect is described as an unknown race male, 5 ft. 7 in. tall, thin, wearing a large black hooded sweatshirt, black jeans, and black stocking material covering his face.
FELONY HIT AND RUN, 4/15/2007, S. 23rd St./S. Jefferson Davis Hwy. At approximately 1105 hrs on 04/15/07, a beige 4-door sedan was traveling eastbound on S. 23rd St. approaching a red light at the intersection with Jefferson Davis Hwy. A woman was crossing S. 23rd St. in the crosswalk at the same time. The sedan turned right onto Jefferson Davis Hwy. and struck the woman, knocking her to the ground. The victim suffered a minor leg injury. The sedan fled the scene.
FELONY HIT AND RUN, 4/15/2007, Columbia Pike/S. Thomas St. At approximately 1643 hrs on 04/15/07, a Plymouth Voyager traveling westbound on Columbia Pike stopped to make a left turn onto S. Thomas St. A Toyota Camry rear-ended the Voyager and immediately fled the scene. The driver of the Voyager sustained minor injuries but followed the Camry to I-495 in Fairfax County. Fairfax County Police found the Camry and arrested the driver. Leonides Suarez-De La Cruz, 39, of South Riding, VA, was charged with DWI in Fairfax County and Felony Hit and Run in Arlington.
FELONY HIT AND RUN, 4/15/2007, S. Walter Reed Dr./S. Four Mile Run Dr. At approximately 2112 hrs on 04/15/07, a Toyota Echo was traveling eastbound on S. Four Mile Run Dr. through the intersection with S. Walter Reed Dr. A Ford Ranger pickup truck northbound on S. Walter Reed Dr. ran the red light and struck the Echo. The Ranger fled the scene but was followed by a witness. An officer located the vehicle in Fairfax County and Fairfax County police stopped the Ranger on Little River Turnpike and arrested the driver. Raymond Armstrong, 40, of Alexandria, was charged with Felony DWI, Felony Driving While Revoked, and Refusal to Submit to a Breath Test in Fairfax County and Felony Hit and Run in Arlington. Armstrong was held without bond.
FELONY HIT AND RUN, 4/14/2007, S. Glebe Rd./S. Arlington Ridge Rd. At approximately 0735 hrs on 04/14/07, a Cadillac Deville was traveling westbound on S. Glebe Rd. through the intersection with S. Arlington Ridge Rd. A white car, possibly a late 80s or early 90s Toyota Camry, ran a red light and entered the intersection from the south, striking the Deville. The driver of the Deville lost control of the vehicle, jumped the median and struck a parked Honda Civic and a tree. That driver sustained minor injuries but did not go to the hospital. The white car fled the scene.
BURGLARY, 4/13/2007, 3200 block of N. 19th Rd. Between 0600 hrs and 0900 hrs on 04/13/07, someone broke into a locked shed by damaging the door handles. It does not appear that anything was taken.
BURGLARY, 4/13/2007, 1500 block of S. 11th St. Between 1130 hrs and 1415 hrs on 04/13/07, someone entered a house through a rear bedroom window and took a video game system, an Ipod, cash, and other items.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 4/12/2007, 2300 block of N. Van Buren Ct. At approximately 0730 hrs on 04/12/07, a man exposed himself to a 16-year-old girl while she was walking through a parking lot. The suspect is described as a white Hispanic male, 5 ft. 5 in. tall, average build, wearing a grey hooded sweat shirt and jeans.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 4/12/2007, 800 block of S. 31st St. At approximately 1126 hrs on 04/12/07, a man doing work outside of a home received permission to use the bathroom in the house. When the man came out of the bathroom, he exposed himself to a female resident in the house. The woman ordered the man to leave and he did so. A warrant for Indecent Exposure is on file for Kevin Johnson, 43, of Suitland, MD.
BURGLARY, 4/11/2007, 3500 block of S. Ball St. Between 1600 hrs on 03/20/07 and 1600 hrs on 04/11/07, someone entered a building under construction and removed numerous sections of copper pipe.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY (SERIES), 4/11/2007, 4600 block of S. Four Mile Run Dr. Between 0610 hrs and 1600 hrs on 04/11/07, someone damaged 12 apartment doors on one floor of an apartment building in apparent attempts to gain entry.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 4/10/2007, 2500 block of N. Glebe Rd. At approximately 1330 hrs on 04/10/07, a woman walking on the stairs in an office building saw a man approaching from the opposite direction. As they passed each other, the man exposed himself to the woman. The suspect is described as a white male, 5 ft. 8 in. tall, 160 lbs, wearing a black shirt with white lettering, jeans, and a baseball cap.
BURGLARY, 4/10/2007, 2000 block of Clarendon Blvd. Between 0930 hrs on 04/06/07 and 1900 hrs on 04/10/07, someone entered an apartment by unknown means and took jewelry.
FELONY HIT AND RUN, 4/10/2007, 1500 block of S. George Mason Dr. At approximately 1602 hrs on 04/10/07, a man driving a Honda Accord southbound on S. George Mason Dr. got into an argument with a female bicyclist. The man got out of his car, pushed the woman and threw her bike. While leaving the scene, the man bumped the woman several times with his vehicle to push her out of the way. A police officer witnessed part of the incident and stopped the Accord a short time later. Johnny Arthur McRight, 58, of Arlington, was charged with Felony Hit and Run, Assault and Battery, and Destruction of Property and held on $2,500 bond.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 4/10/2007, 600 block of S. Clark St. Between 1700 hrs on 04/06/07 and 1000 hrs on 04/10/07, someone damaged the doorknob on the rear door of a building in an apparent attempt to gain entry.
ARMED ROBBERY, 4/9/2007, 2300 block of N. 11th St. At approximately 1930 hrs on 04/09/07, three men surrounded a man on the stairs of an apartment building. One of the suspects produced a handgun and demanded the victim’s wallet. The victim complied and the suspects fled the building. All three suspects are described as black males, between 5 ft. 10 in. tall and 6 ft. tall, 170 to 200 lbs. Suspect #1 (with the handgun) had a slight beard and was wearing a black knit cap, black jeans, and a brown puffy jacket. Suspect #2 had light skin and was wearing a black knit cap, blue jeans, and a cream-colored jacket over a white vest. Suspect #3 was wearing a black knit cap.
BURGLARY, 4/8/2007, 2200 block of N. Lexington St. Between 0630 hrs and 1900 hrs on 04/08/07, someone entered a house by forcing the front door and took computer parts.
ROBBERY BY FORCE, 4/7/2007, 2300 block of S. Eads St. At approximately 2145 hrs on 04/07/07, a woman walking down the street was approached from behind by a man. The man pulled the woman’s purse away from her, knocking her to the ground. The victim suffered injuries to her shoulder and back. The suspect fled on foot. Officers located the suspect in the area and arrested him. Melvin Romell Sales, 18, of no fixed address, was charged with Robbery and held without bond.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 4/6/2007, unit block of S. Glebe Rd. Just after midnight on 04/06/07, a man was seen trying to open the rear doors of two businesses. When he realized he was being observed, the man left on foot. The suspect is described as an unknown race male in his 40s, 6 ft. 4 in. tall, medium build, wearing a light blue hooded sweatshirt.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (SERIES), 4/4/2007, 3800 block of Lorcom Ln./1400 block of N. Utah St. Between 2200 hrs on 04/03/07 and 1213 hrs on 04/04/07, someone damaged windows on a house and a vehicle. It appears that the damage was done by throwing or shooting small ball bearings. These incidents occurred in the same time frame as four other similar vandalisms that were reported earlier.
BURGLARY, 4/4/2007, 2200 block of S. Shirlington Rd. Between 1500 hrs on 04/03/07 and 0600 hrs on 04/04/07, someone entered an apartment building under construction and took a number of wall cabinets.
BURGLARY, 4/4/2007, 1000 block of S. Quebec St. Between 1230 hrs and 1430 hrs on 04/04/07, someone entered an apartment by unknown means and took a laptop computer, a video game system, a surround sound system, a radio and clothing.
FELONY HIT AND RUN, 4/4/2007, 2600 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 1740 hrs on 04/04/07, a man backing a Honda Accord out of a parking space collided with a Mazda Tribute. The man briefly spoke to the driver of the Tribute but left the scene on foot without providing his information. Officers located the suspect in the 1500 block of Columbia Pike. Michael Kelly, 46, of Arlington, was arrested and charged with Felony Hit and Run. Kelly was also wanted by the Arlington County Sheriff’s Office for failing to appear in court on an earlier charge and was held on $10,000 bond.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (SERIES), 4/4/2007, 5900 blk Wilson Blvd. / 3100 blk N. Harrison St. / 500 blk N. Livingston St. / 5900 blk N. 10th St. Between 2339 hrs on 04/03/07 and 0138 hrs on 04/04/07, someone damaged windows and a glass door on three residences and the window of a vehicle. It appears that the damage was done by throwing or shooting small ball bearings.
BURGLARY, 4/2/2007, 4000 block of Nellie Custis Dr. Between 0830 hrs and 1100 hrs on 04/02/07, someone entered a home through an unlocked rear door and took jewelry.
BURGLARY, 4/2/2007, 2300 block of S. 26th Ct. Between 1700 hrs on 04/01/07 and 0900 hrs on 04/02/07, someone entered the mailroom of an apartment complex, possibly through a window, and took the contents of several packages.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 4/1/2007, 1000 block of S. Frederick St. At approximately 1900 hrs on 04/01/07, a man walking down the street was approached by a stranger who threatened him. The two men got into a fight and the suspect produced an unknown object and cut the victim on the arm. The victim was able to flee from the suspect and sustained only minor injuries. The suspect is described as a black male in his late teens or early 20s, 5 ft. 10 in. tall, medium build, with a tall “afro” hair style, last seen wearing a black bandanna, a black shirt, dark baggy shorts, and black boots.
MISSILE INTO OCCUPIED DWELLING, 4/1/2007, 3200 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 0153 hrs on 04/01/07, a man threw a shot glass through the front window of a restaurant. A woman standing inside the restaurant received a minor laceration to the torso from the shattered window. Security guards chased the suspect through the parking lot and into the street where he was stopped by a police officer. Edguin Rodolfo Alcantara-Reyes, 24, of Springfield, was charged with Missile into an Occupied Dwelling and held on $1,000 bond.
